Well, the UK/FR/GR versions are all in test as we speak. I won't promise a date, as when they're released is dependant on whether or not we have to resubmit. But as far as the technical hurdles are concerned, they're solved. They need to pass OSI and EA QA, which they are in simultaneously. Once they're cleared, they'll be available on this site. Thanks for your patience.jkm firaxis games

Will we in the UK ever get the facility to play a game over a LAN without having to buy 2 copies of the game or hack it up ourselves...?I've no idea why software companies seem to hate UK Lanners so much, all these "must have CD in drive to play" make multiplayer nearly impossible without resorting to illegal methods which we would much rather avoid... You have to remeber that the UK is the land of cruddy internet connections so LANS are very popular here, it is however very frustrating to have the copy protection deny us what is perfectly allowable in the US... I agree with Darkheart. Maybe it's possible to make a multiplayer install only option? That would be great. |

So, finally I'm making my mind that simultaneous release in US and Europe means only UK/FR/GR. I read a post from a desperate dutch (don't they speak english as their motherlanguage?) The funny thing is that one more country in acknowledged in the credits for localized versions: Italy. Well, my compatriots will get their version as an Easter bunny (we actually get eggs, chocolate eggs). All for the better for me, coz in the meantime the distributor didn't apply for the UK release, but ordered instead the game directly from the states. So we anglophone italians (quite a few, you know...) (BTW, our government boasts it brought us in Europe, I wonder if they know what they're talking about) have the bonus of US version, no copy protection, LAN multiplay ok (maybe still illegal...), early US patches, we can make a laugh of EA clumsiness.<sigh> |

Well I am one of those dutch guys, and the version sold here is english, besides some dutch leaflets and the box is dutch as well. But I still wouldn't know (even after asking fireaxis) which patch version I should use if it eventually comes out ?? Could someone please clear this ? |

It'll be the English version I reckon, if your game is in English. |

DarkHeart: I realy dislike the CD protection, but I discovered that it`s very stupid. You just have to run the game with the cd in then move it to the next computer untill all computers are at the menu. Happy networking |

That's probably not stupidity -- it's a standard protection design to ensure that if you're using the same CD for multiple machines, all those machines are in the same household. It's actually a convenience for you. Many many games do this -- Railroad Tycoon II is the most recent I can think of. |
