hello, i bought smac the other day and have been playing it furiously (finished it on citizen...). what i would like to know is if there's a way to choose the technological advances instead of them being chosen for you. automation is great, but sometimes ya gotta have more control... if this has been addressed elsewhere, i would appreciate a pointer to information. thank you. |

At the beginning of the game, instead of using standard rules, select customize rules, uncheck blind research. |

It's not automation, it's randomisation. And you do have some control, just not much. James |

You can choose a general line of advancement through the tech tree by choosing from that "Build Discover Explore Conquer" research goal screen by hitting "Shift-R". |
