Why do I see endangered written in large red letters on some of my terrain?

I think it's because you have global warming - those squares will sink.

ENDANGERED means that terrain is about to sink into the sea. Dunno what happens if you dry out land ... do the sea squares get ENDANGERED written on them so you don't leave units on there?
