posted 02-25-99 11:15 PM ET I'm playing santiago, after I conquered 3/4 of sister miriam's bases she begged me to stop and signed a pact to serve me. I was wondering is it a good idea to take her surrender. Can she backstab me later in the game?? the weird thing is she still ignors me when I tries to contact her. she is suppose to serve me right?? then how can she ignor me. Back to the question, can the swear to serve you pact be broken by the AI later in the game?? what is the diffenrence between pact of brotherhood?? and is it a good idea to take it??

Take it!
You can always ask for money, they usually give them to you. They usually don't break surrender, (I haven't seen any yet and I am playing thinker). They still bad mouth you if you choose the "wrong" social engineering or if your reputation is bad. And yes, they still may ignore you if they are tire. I have also seen, albeit in only 2 occasions among the many surrender pacts I gained, that they refuse to fight my enemies.
But in all, It is a much better arrangement the a regular pact. They do give in to your demands much more readily.

I agree.
Wei, you should also try to make them hand over as many cities as you can. Most of the time they'll give them to if you offer your good will. If that doesn't work try threatening them with breaking your pact. If that doesn't work tell them to name their price. If they are weak and small you won't have to pay more than 50-100 (sometimes less). Which is peanuts for a superpower like you at this stage. Mwahahahaha.
Another reason for accepting their offer (which I'm quite fond of) is that you can use them as puppets in the council meetings. Even if they only have 5 votes in the council their voice counts just as much as an opposing superpower (except in govener ellections). Most of the time they don't need much convincing.

They have broken a pact of servitude to me only after I issued a Planetbuster at some Gaian Scum. So I guess they break it only when you commit an atrocity.
