Why the duck is everybody calling this game SMAC, which means SID MEIERS Alpha Centauri, when it seems to me that everyone agrees he has NOTHING to do with the game? Why not call it AC, (or terran as the program file is called =)...) BTW: duck isnt a typo =)

Well...it does say Sid Meirs Alpha Centauri on the box...besides that SMAC sounds better than AC, which reminds me of what I turn on when it gets too hot! Besides SMAC sounds like the street name of a highly addictive substance you inject, while the game is a highly addictive substance that you play... |

About Sid's involvement: SMAC has been around for over two years. To say that Sid had nothing to do with it in that span of time is ill-informed. This is a very small company and everyone has input on every game and all stages of development. Beyond the fact that the game mechanics are based on his previous games, he had a signifigant impact on the early and late game experience and a million other little details that I don't remember. His name being on the box was a marketing decision, plain and simple. His contribution to SMAC was not. jkm firaxis games |

And Jeffrey did come down from the mountain, and he did smite the heathens, and the heathens fled in terror at his coming, for he was mighty to behold, and his voice did clap as the thunder...Heh, heh. |
