First off, I loved CivII to death, and I have been so excited for Alpha Centauri. I am enjoying the game a lot, but unfortunately school and work keeps me from playing it as much as I have wanted to. So, if this question has been asked and answered already, forgive me. I have read through a lot of the board, but I haven't read it all.In CivII, you could set up the mouse so that when you placed it over a unit you wanted to move, it would change into an arrow and you could point the unit the way you wanted it to go. This feature appears to be absent in SMAC. The only way I've been able to control the units movement with my mouse has been to right click on a square and select "move unit here". While this works, its somewhat annoying when the old system for unit movement worked great. I do not like to use the keypad for movement as I am right handed and I prefer to just keep my hand on the mouse instead of moving back and forth all the time. I know this sounds nitpicky, but it is really the only thing that has annoyed me about the game. I'm hoping that this feature is already in the game and I just haven't seen it yet. Thanks for reading. RiannonX

No, Rhiannon, I haven't found an easier way than that annoying menu either. I have however learned to live with some of the minor quirks of SMAC because it is a very deep and rewarding gaming experience. QS |

position cursor over unit, hold down left mousebutton, drag to desired point (a line will show the units route) and then release the button.... Xmin |

An even easier AWESOME way to move a unit that is selected is this: Just move the mouse over the square you want it moved and hold in left mouse button. A path will be shown just as "drag and drop". I use this one even when I move just one step.Good luck |
