The manual says that the B key will allow a plane to start bombing runs against a target. Has anyone gotten this to work? Does the plane have to be parked for it to work? Waz up with dat!Antiam

However, while it's broken you can still use it to save some hassle.First, though, I found that I could never get the bombing run to start because it didn't think I was clicking on a base. Turns out you need to click very low -- seemingly the next square down -- to get it to recognize the base. Once you do, the plane will fly out and attack the city, which saves at least one click... But it won't do the rest of what it's supposed to do (fly back to base, repair, bomb again...) |

About the clicking below the square you want... I've noticed that all of the different cursors still select the square that is under the upper left part of the cursor. Which can be a little vexing with the sights cursor! Just pretend the cursor is always the normal arrow.Antiam |

Hmm, that's odd.. While I do experience some major problems setting up the bombing run, once the game do accept it, the aircraft behaves just as I would expect it to - attacks, returns to your base, receives repairs and then flies out to continue its mission. Strange.Regards, Calanor

Must be some condition that causes it to break -- because I have used the bombing command dozens of times now, and it has never fully worked.I wonder what the trigger could be that breaks it? |

I have also had Bombing Run problems. The B hotkey does not work for me ... however, the right click menu choice of Bombing Run does work. I have also had bombing runs go to the attack of the enemy base and then stop dropping the plane into NO ORDERS status. I also have had the problem of the bombing "cursor" not pointing to the right spot requiring you point to the adjacent square almost to get it to work. And I have had planes that I tell to start a bombing run that don't move at all that turn (game indicates they already moved, but actually they have not moved at all). I sent some SAVE GAME files to Jeffrey and am happy to hear that they are fixing these problems. Go Jeffrey! |

Bombing runs are broken for me, too. The planes usually go do the bombing, but then sit there for a turn and crash the next. In addition, even when I'm just flying a plane from one location to another, it gets it into its fool head to stop halfway. So I tell it to move again, and it moves 1 square. I've taken 15 clicks to move a plane 10 squares! [G] [enter] over and over again!Another similar thing to bomb runs that doesn't work is telling a former to build a road to. When selecting this from either the menu or the hotkey, nothing at all happens. I expect a window to pop up asking where to build to, but get nothing. |

I'v used both options pretty extensively (build road to and bombing) it seems as though for the build road to work there needs to be a clean line of sight from town to town, I'v never gotten it to build around a lake for instance. Mag Tubes is another matter, the option is ALWAYS blacked out, but manually building it works. As for bombing, a plane will NOT leave a base to start the run if it damaged (explains why sometimes a plane doesn't move when you order it to), it will idle for a turn(s) and repair itself. The second reason why a plane won't move is if the base is undefended, it will just idle instead of launch. Last of all, the reason why the stop after a bombing run is if an enemy unit has entered a square next to it, it will cancel orders and let you choose the next plan of action. This seems to happen even if a unit enters the base which you are doing a bombing run from. I knock out the surrounding "country" army with the planes and try to cut off the source of reinforcement, and it works great, I'v had planes do like 5-10 bombing runs in a row without problems. Of course, all this is just from observation, I could be wrong. =) |

I have similiar problem with bombing runs. Especially ones lauch from a sea base. This is what I did and what happen: I order a bombing run, this first turn goes fine. On return. The bomber seen to have lose track where to go and ask me for order. I order it to a nearby base. But every square it go it stop and ask me for direction again. There is no enemy unit in the vincinity. I have to manually move the unit back. But I still use it to save some labor during the first turn. George |

I've gotten roads around lake to work.ChrisW, If you have the patched full version [or is it full patched version], the "build to city" pop-up seems to have been removed. Instead, a special arrow shows up, and you use that to click the square where you wish to build to. You no longer need to build between cities. |
