Another thing that came to mind.

In MOO2 you had command points and if you had more troops (starships) then command points it cost $10 per round to keep the ships going.

In SMAC you have the number of units you can support and then each one past that uses a single mineral. Not enough minerals ... unit disbands. I thought it would be an interesting idea at least that instead it would cost you 3 to 5 EC per turn per unit that was not supported. I am curious if Firaxis tried something like this and found it to be unbalanced? I don't think it would be. Thoughts, opinions? Perhaps a warning would popup telling you that you have unsupported units that are eating into your economy.

I would propose a similiar process for eliminating drones due to units being away from base but I KNOW that would be unbalanced!
