I am probably doing this wrong, but...The rulebook says that aircraft that conduct bombing runs first strike, return to base, repair, and strike again until the enemy base is captured or no targets remain. However, when I have my planes strike, they attack and clear their orders next to the enemy city. I have tried to tweak the options by deactivationg the "clear orders when adjacent to vendetta/pact/truce" but that didn't help. Are there other factors involved with bombing runs that I am unaware of?

Jeff:While your at it, I've noticed that Aircraft don't always return to base after the limit of fuel has reached its maximum distance, even if the screen is completely cleared and no enemy units in sight. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't understand it... maybe I'm doing to something wrong? |

Man, just send us a save. A lot of these things are SOOOOO dependant on a million variables that it can be impossible to get it to occur here. If you ever see anything wacky, copy your autosaves folder and rename it "Out of fuel" or whatever. With those in hand, bugs get fixed. Thanks.jkm firaxis games |

My problem with bombing runs: Whenever I select a base to bomb, it says "You must select an enemy base." Of course, I AM selecting an enemy base...I haven't gotten this to work yet. Let me know if a save game would help in this case. |

I have the same problem as Deadron. Try to designate bombing run and voice says"Cannot execute order" and screen says "you may designate bombing runs to enemy bases only" |

I'm wondering if something I saw is related. I had a missile cruiser wandering around bombarding things. I clicked on a unit next to the coast (to the right), but it wouldn't let me bombard, but I got no error message. I then clicked on a mine one sqare due east of a base. I heard the bombard noise, and then suddenly I was in the middle of an artillery duel with a ship in the base. It seems like I was actually firing at the square to the left of the one I was clicking on. Unfortunately, I lost the duel, so I couldn't experiment, and I didn't think to grab the autosave. |
