I was warned that sea levels would rise in 20 years, so real quick I built a bunch of tree farms, hybrid farms, preserves and temples figuring that would satisfy planet. And I still got flooded TWICE. Should I have quick built pressure domes instead or is there a way to stop the process after you're warned?

After global warming starts, it is to late to build Centauri Perserves. Building pressure domes will insure your cities don't get flooded.

Or you can call Planetary Council and request that the Solar Shade be launched which reduces planetary temperature and expands the icecaps thus lowering the water level.

Speaking of lowering water levels by solar shade... is this like a permanent effect? What I mean is, after the vote is passed, do the waters constantly recede forever? Because I did it after global warming started, and withing 60 or so years, we were down to one big continent from four nice ones. And all the shallow water was always ENDANGERED (love that warning by the way)

Agreed on the solar shade...and interestingly enough, I did precisely that and found only one dissenting vote in a council that usually didn't see things my way (except on the elections, where I had the clout to get my way). This part of the AI isn't dumb, I'll say that much <G>.

I've never used it otherwise, so I can't speculate on grunthex's question. Maybe one of the nice FIRAXIS folks will drop by and give us a clue.

Something similar happened to me too.

When I was warned of global warming and rising sea levels I went directly to the counsel for a vote on shading. It got passed and the waters started to receed in a few turns. Now, all I wanted to do was preserve the current coastline by counteracting the warming with shade. Instead it immediately started receeding the waters like there had been no "global warming". Can anyone confirm this too. I can't say I like it very much.

Also as the waters were receeding I noticed something kind of funny. I had a city setting in the middle of Garland's Crater. I noticed the crater walls started smoothing out (like erosion). I also noticed this on a few other peeks aswell. Anyone else notice this? Maybe I need to lay off the beer!

Thanks
