Does anyone know whether there are effects when social factors are extreme or is there a limit to how high or how low a factor will go? For example: it is possible to reach a -8 police, but are there any ill effects greater than what they would be at -5? Another example: If you manage to get efficiency above 4, are there any advantages?

I have an efficiency of 5 in my current game, and I'm still getting a lot of lost energy at distant bases. Tonight, I'm going to try to see if increasing it further has any effect. |

In at least most (if not all) cases, having a value off the charts has no additional effect. The ones I'm not sure about are Planet and Efficiency, since these feed into formulas. Check the Advanced Topics in the Dataliks to see the equations for Eco damage and Inefficiency. One interesting thing you'll note, BTW, is that a Planet rating of +3 eliminates all Eco damage. The odd side effect of this is that the Gaians are the best for massive terraforming, since Gaian + Green economy = you can terraform to your heart's desire with no ill effects from Planet. |

Using figures from the v1.1 Demo I calacutalted that the max effic is 11. When fed into the effic equasion, you still have some ineffic in farflung, high energy bases. |

Does any of the Beta Testers know for sure? If the social factors are capable of going to extremes, why were they not indicated in the manual's appendix section? Thanks for your responses people! |

And what about research? It seems that since it's just a +/- 10% thing, it should be able to go off the scale.
