Well, seeing how almost everyone on the forum has the game, we, the unfortunate ones, who can't buy the game for financial/time reasons have to ask you guys for info. So, what kind of random events are in game, what do they do? Which ones are your most favorite? Which one you hate the most? Which one do you think is stupidest?Maybe even share a few tactics based on random events.

A couple :Hail Storm - all solar collectors near base X destroyed. Disease - all bases within X range of base Y halve population, where X = pop/2 of source base Y. (Halted if you have Human Genome project) Dimensional Portal - unit is transported to random location on map. Global Warming (probably not random) - sea levels rise. NetWork Nodes generate research advance. Heard of but not seen - all satellites destroyed. |

You mean to tell me that my coastal bases aren't safe? have to remember that and build the domes fast. |

Well, your coastal cities are never really safe, because a lone Sea Former could just lower the terrain near them and cast 'em off to the waves. |

Pressure domes in coastal cities are a must. There is a third way you could have half your empire drowned: if the council agrees to melt the polar caps, the sea level also raises. One random event most people like are solar explosions that disrupt communication between factions. You can commit atrocities and brake treaties without penalties, but no deals can de made. (trade, however, is kept) |

i don't full version yet, but the demo has: dimensional porthole tidal wave excessive cloud and smog, energy production -1 at XX base for the next 10 years. the "disease" one, i had happen 1 time, but had the project built. many many games ago. |

There is one that gives you +1 nutrients for every square for ten turns for a specific base. It only happens if you have built bio labs as the message was that my bio lab discovered a beneficial bacteria that increased my nutrients as above. |

I've seen solar flares = all bases get double energy / sqaure for the next turn. It works out your energy including restrictions then doubles it ... go and change workers in all bases to produce energy for a turn then go and change them all back again next turn. |

Here are some I have encountered:Energy Bank Power Surge: Requires energy bank and gave me a one time bonus of 50 energy. Bumper Crops: +1 Nutrient a year for ten years in the city that it occurs. Also resource dwindles I think are ramdom and a pain. |

You can also lose and gain Nutrient/Mineral/Energy resources on the map randomly.Global Warming is NOT random. It doesn't seem to happen unless there is a ridiculous amount of mineral production going on in the world. This can happen pretty easily late game with all the +50% mineral production buildings in the game, as well as a network of Nessus Mining Facilities. Don't forget your Pressure Domes Bedbug |

I've seen both the creation and loss of resource bonuses.James |

Here's some that I have encountered:Heat Wave: +1 energy for every square around that city for X amount of turns. EcoBlight (or something of that nature): All forests and farms around said city are wiped out (for quite an extended radius). Industrial Collapse: -1 minerals for each square around the city for X amount of turns. I've also gotten the Bumper Crop message as well. I'm curious if there are any others as well. - Cat |

Some I've found:Solar Flare on Alpha Prime - every base on the planet produces triple energy for one turn. (Time to buy some Secret Projects!) The obvious Hercules Perihelion - increased mindworm activity Explosion on Nessus - all mining stations destroyed |

Here's a couple I found...Playing Morgan. Had around 13,000+ energy credits one turn then BAM - Energy Market Crash... ended up with around 3,500... very upsetting.. Saw this happen to one of the Hive's bases in the same game... Tidal wave hits XXX base (one of yang's)... base totally destroyed... Don't know if it would have mattered but the base was size 1 at the time.. Stein |

Perihelion isn't technically a random event, since it always occurs from 2X90 to 2X10, excepting the first 10 turns of the game (I guess Planet hasn't woken up yet at that point) |

Just recently, I had another random event.Sunspots: All communication with other factions is cut off for X amount of turns. While this means you can't convene the council or contact other factions, it does mean you can get away with minor atrocities (such as nerve stapling). Just don't expect to get away with Planet Busting cities during a sunspot event. - Catbert |
