OK, no one predicted this. I thought Yang would be the killer, not the UNITY. Anyone else get fooled?

I was pretty danged sure that it wouldn't be one of the Factions. That would just make them too hated, esp by Pravin. What surprised me is the Spartans killing Pria. How could Pravin ever make peace with them after that... |

let's not forget that a spartan did mortally wound the captain. I think the captain did a very heroic thing, sacrificing his own life to save the factions even though he knew that once on planet the factions would probably still tear each other apart. |

As I read it, Pria isn't dead yet, just seriously wounded... |

The way I read it, Pria isn't dead yet, but it's a foregone conclusion... |

Uh, maybe I missed something (hey, it IS early in the morning here), but where did it say a Spartan shot Garland?I thought it was quite non-specific as to who killed him... |

I think the woman who shoots him is spartan because of what she says to him. It indicates an ideology that (in my opinion) fits the Spartans. I could be wrong, though. |

Yeah, but if you read her Diary afterwards, that don't sound like no Spartan to me... =) |

sounds like a very anti-social goth-like spartan with a personality disorder, in other words, a hiver.~DHE, useless insect jokes abound. |

quite an amazing episode they released in the end... I think the assailant definitely belonged to the Spartan faction. "...your leadership stolen from under you by others with vision and the will to survive..." she says to Garland, her words sounding so much like those of Spartans. She seems tough, commanding and ready to use weapons with obvious signs of training behind her. Captain describes her as "...a young woman, her face pale and very smooth and clean, but bland..." which immediately reminds me off Santiago herself. Though the girl's name doesn't give much away (Sarah Jaydo), she could be related to Santiago herself, maybe even her daughter. That could give a possible explanation for her pessimism in the diary notes and in her general attitude. She could be seeking revenge from Garland for imprisoning her mother, or at least her leader earlier in the story and after the imprisoment views the whole crusade as a failure and a hopeless attempt at a dream. |

Read the quote on the Cloning Vats in the Datalinks, this suggests that maybe Pria survived after all. I don't think it has to be particularly clear who killed Garland. Besides of which, he would have died anyway after he released the landing pods. At least this way he's a martyr. Pretty decent story, got to read it all the way through some time. I read the first episode some time last August, the story lacks a sense of continuity to say the least |

it lacks continuity, eh. Thats probably cause its written like a dickens novel. Bit by bit every week. I actually like this style. It leaves you waiting for the next part! |

One thing that would indicate that she isn't a Spartan is Garland's observation that her shredder pistol fire could breach the hull. That would pose a serious threat to humanity's survival (or at least the survival of those two), which flies in the face of the Spartans' primary goal. |

To me it sounds more like a Believer than a Spartan, or at least it does from the diary. Remember what she said about an enlightened being would need to someday come in order to lead us out of all our troubles?Your Friend in the Skies CumuloNimbus |
