I would have made Yang the Daleks, personally. There actually was something in Dr. Who, a 'Utopia' of sorts, that I think might be more accurate to the Believers, but durned if I can remember any details. Eris (really gotta go visit my friend who has the majority of Dr. Who thru 6th Dr. on video) |

Eris,Point taken and it was a toss-up. However, I tend to remember the Cybermen as being quite a small bunch who wanted to expand and conquer whereas the Daleks already had a large empire. Can't remember the Utopia thing, though, uless is was that one which was a set up by the Master. Resource Consumer - preparing business plan for sci-fi video rental shop -

Eris: I didn't know that VCRs were available back in 1963 when "Planet of the Daleks" was broadcast.Does anyone remember the actor who played The Doctor in that pilot episode? Peter Cushing, was it? Incidentally, I saw William Hartnell (first series Doctor) in a TV movie made not so long ago. Incredible, but true. Does your friend have tapes of "The Zarbi" and the two series with the one-eyed servants on the space ark (NOT "The Ark in Space") that became the rulers after a thousand years? I ask, because I thought the BBC "lost" all the earlier tapes. (I should "Exterminate, annihilate, destroy, destroy!" the BBC management for allowing that to happen.) Talking of executing the meritless, in what Act and Scene of what Shakespeare play does the statement, "The lawyers will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes" appear? HK: Caterpillar? Looked more like a flavored ice-cream that had fallen from the cone. It was so wimpy! Help! Run away! I bet you liked the Prince in those episodes! While on the topic of this DW story, I enjoyed the twist in the tale that made us suspect the Ice Warriors, but it wasn't them at all, they were being uncharacteristically honorable!

Deirdre's faction should be those giant mutant plants that menaced the mansion. Or should that be Planet?Who should be the Autons? (The plastic androids sent to conquer the world.) Capitalists, capitalists ... there has to be some DW episode with a Goldfinger character in it. Oh yes! Remember the little guy in the chair on some remote planet who was so mean and grasping and who wanted to buy everything in the universe, and nearly succeeded, but whom the Doctor melted (!) somehow?

"Eris: I didn't know that VCRs were available back in 1963 when "Planet of the Daleks" was broadcast."Well, let me reiterate that I said he had the "majority" of them, but no, that isn't when he got them. The Dr. Who series was played in my hometown on PBS for well over 15 years, in the 70s and (when they were predominately recorded) the 80s. I don't know how many he's missing (not counting the 'lost' episodes... the ones never shown here because the distributors didn't have a copy), but I believe he has /all/ the Pertwee and Tom Baker ones, and a good chunk (probably in excess of 50%) of the earlier ones. Eris (3 more hours til the weekend, and Ren Faire opens tomorrow...) |

Hello HelloKitty,An expression of love in a forum - to have fallen so far Yes. I think it was from the Peladon episodes. It wasn't really a caterpillar but had 4 arms and bounced around like a Gaian yoyo squeaking "this is awful..etc". Actually, I seem to remember that it reminded me of a lot of my mother's friends at the time only they weren't green (I think). Obviously, the Gaians hadn't infiltrated our village at that stage and Miriam was still very much in control. Which Master played the butler? - the original one (Roger Delgado - I think he's now brown bread) or the later one (Anthony Ainley). This, by the way, is from memory whci eother makes me a mnemonic genius or a sad git. Resource Consumer - wishing he could spell and type like other sad gits - |
