Don't buy anything, wait until civ II: test of time comes out. And late this year, early next year, you can get Shogun. In the mean time you could download emulators and roms, and play old console games for free. |

Shogun looks to be awesome but you'd better go into stasis because I hear it won't be around 'til next year. |

You could try reading a book...Eris (will be happy to recommend some) |

hence the emulator/rom thing, it will be a bit of a wait for shogun, but not too long, they are primarily finished the game, they just want to take a few months to tweak it. |

Picker,Am I correct in interpreting your last post as that you will expect Shogun to be (almost) bug-free. Gasp.... surely that doesn't happen any more |

Well, it just might. They were gonna ship it now, but too many strategy games are coming out now so they decided to wait until 2000, and they will spend the extra time tweaking it. |

Has anyone played birth of the federation. I was considering buying it. Gamespsots review wasn't bad. I was just wondering if the interface is workable and about the difficulty. |

About Diablo-type games. Darkstone is coming next month. Graphic is better (in movie at least). |

Don't kill me for this, but I would suggest trying some rts games if tb is too boring for you. Some great choices coming out-c&c:Tiberian Sun AOE2:Age of Kings or you can stick with tb and get worms armageddon(?). |

Don't even say that, I will have to kill you and eat your bones. Reading is most entertaining, I read 2-3 400-900 page books a week(depending on how much I work). |

I read 400-600 pages book in 1-2 days. Earlier I read 5-7 books weekly, now only 2-3. Sci fiction, fantasy, as Tolkien (not sure in spelling, I'm not native speaker), serious autors, philosophers etc. Can repeat: IT IS BORING NOW. |

"Can repeat: IT IS BORING NOW."Then you are reading the wrong books. Or suffering an imagination deficiency... Eris' recommendation of the week: The Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold. Eris (who doesn't WANT to wait until September for the new one, dammit) |

Game Recommendation: Heroes of Might & Magic III (turn based fantasy game, not as strategically deep as SMAC, but very well-done).Book Recommendations: Rudy Rucker - "The Hacker and The Ants" Umberto Eco - "The Name of the Rose"

I just started playing Dungeon Keeper again a while back, to get ready for DKII which will be out soon. If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend you do so. Nice, wicked RTS game.If you like to build - Rollercoaster Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon II (And 2nd Century - Its expansion) [Or even I, the original], and Simcity 3000. For basic fun, stress release, and craziest stunts seen in a long time, Carmeggedon. (I picked this up in the Bargain bin. Great Death Race 2000 adaption.) I have Birth Of the Feds. I'd say pass on it until you don't mind its costs. Its amusing if you are a trekkie/trekker. Old_Warrior42 tried it under NT 4 and says it won't run. -Darkstar |

chagarra tried it under nt4 not I. He bought it and he was wondering if he could play it on his system and tried but failed. I had asked him why he had nt4 on his home system if he was retired from work and he said he used to do alot of his work at home...hence the nt4.He said he guesses he will have to wait till nt2000 to try again. |

I noticed mm7 on the shelf yesterday. Does anyone have an opinion on it?Bought BotF and put it on the shelf with about 8 other games I have gotten since I got SMAC. All still in shrink wrap. Can't stop SMACing long enough to load any of them. |

Well for good games to play my favorite is Magic and Mayhem. (It has bumped everything else down on my great game list.)Birth of the Federation is a pretty good game. I am not a huge trek fan but it is still fun. There is alot of micromanagement but then so does every other TBS. MM& is way too fun. I have been addicted to it for a week now. The story is pretty fun. As for the reading suggestions David Eddings any series although the Belgariad is the best and the Adept series by Piers Anthony. |

Games: Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Baldur's Gate, Master of Orion 2 (you HAVE to find it), X-COM 1 or 3, emulators and roms.Books: Tolkien of course, "Glory Season" or "Startide Rising", or other books, by David Brin, Robert Jordan perhaps, I haven't been reading too much lately... |

IgorBotf will definately NOT run on NT4 even with service pack 5.... (Advised by Microprose) Try all four of Terry Goodkind's books, and if you like them you may also like, Sara Douglass, Axis trilogy, and Wayfarer Redemption trilogy. Robin Hobb, maybe not the Farseer trilogy, but for sure the Liveship traders. Perhaps Janny Wurts and Raymond E Feist, empire series, which lead up to the Betrayal at Kronder game. And of course Bujold Eris Sure you'r not Elena, you have that same snap as when answering Captain Naismith.

I just want Blizzard to make a TBS game. They wouldn't **** it up like Firaxis did. Yes, Firaxis ****ed it up. Well actually Microprose did, for that is where SMAC came from, Civ 2. Thats all the damn game is, it is a Civ 2 clone. So if blizzard releases a TBS, I'll buy it, I'm more than likely not going to buy Firaxis next TBS, for I know it is just gonna be another Civ clone, and I'm tired of playing Civ. I want something new that will actally C H A L L E N G E me. As of now, SMAC can't challenge a drunken crack whore if that crack whore follows simple patterns (For those of you who find it challenging, **** the mental masterbation of building **** and go kill, you may actually win).Trippin Daily -Blizzard good, Firaxis bad- |
