(This is a repost of something I posted on the strat board, however thee it did not generate to many replies..so don't flame me about it...please)Ok, when i first got the game, I played with the UoP. And have ALWAYS played with them. However, lately I've started to try out Morgan, simply because I'm a greedy person and like being able to buy something instead of expanding a few armies to take it. >=) Also, Morgans philosophy just appeals to me and I've so far had a lot more fun playing him than any other faction (probe teams are fun as hell). But: Since I've never played Morgan before, my strats are not tailored to him. I usually, and completely unconsciously apply my UoP strategies to him, and get my ass romped by that socialistic shmuck Yang =P. So, can anyone please help me out with some Morganite tips. Because playing Morgan and having no money (UoP strat again) to take bases over with SUCKS! Thanks in advance: Wank

I recently played my first Morganite game (don't really like them greedy bastards, but that doesn't matter in a game). I was playing on the huge map of Planet, and shared the large bottom left continent with Yang (I had the shores of Freshwater Sea and he was north of that). Normally, Yang is the first I get in trouble with, and he usually ends up fighting everybody at the same time, especially the ones nearby. I'd just expanded really fast, and was almost totally undefended, so I was glad he agreed to a peace. Eventually, it became one of the better alliances I've ever had. Anyway, I also had an alliance with UoP, and was at war with the Believers and the Gaians, even though I rarely saw them. Miriam and Deirdre shared the huge continent on the right, and Mirian quickly wiped the Gaians out, so she ruled the biggest continent on her own. Yang, Santiago and me were about the same size, but Miriam was as big as two of us together. I was on bad terms with Santiago too, and she was quickly doing to UoP what Miriam had done to Deirdre. Since I didn't want two hostile players each much bigger than me, I decided to help UoP a bit. (Sorry for this long intro, I'm getting to the point now As soon as I could build jets, I built a couple (3, in fact), crossed the ocean between the Hive and University (could just make it from the easternmost Hive base to the westernmost UoP base) and rescued UoP from sure anihilation. With my three jets and some coordination with UoP, we could clear one Survivalist base every couple of turns, and whenever UoP was paying attention, he captured it (a paratrooper was on his way so I could always capture it immediately and then cede it to UoP, but he never arrived). Before my help arrived, UoP lost one base to Santiago every few turns. With my help, he captured one every couple of turns. So with only 3 jets, I turned the tide for him. You'd think he'd be grateful, right? Wrong. Things were just going well for us, my para was almost there, and I was building a new batch of jets, when he contacted me, complained about my wealth, and broke the alliance. My jets teleported back to my nearest base (in the middle of the ocean by that time, but too far to help him), and a few turns later, UoP was no more. I was really angry. I mean, prefering knowledge over wealth is all fine and dandy, but when your own life's at stake, you might want to reconsider before you question your helper's morality. Suppose you're drowning, and a neo-nazi comes to rescue you, would you refuse his help and swim away? The computer AI does. |
