Im on an easy game, with a tiny, mostly land planet... year is about 2300 I wonder what you lot think I ought to do next... I have a strong empire as UoP and the only competition are Spartans who have 2/3 of the planet and about 20 bases... they have a big but low tech military and drone riots at most bases.. I have about 7 bases, 5 of which are highlt developed and some are having golden ages.. Miriam got wasted by the spartans within the first ten years, then the Hive and Morganites and Deidre got stuck on one square of land so I took her out with my air force... Lal is also stuck on an island and has no significant wealth or tech... i will soon destroy him, leaving me and the spartans.. so here is my question : I have a treaty of friendship w/ Santiago so we probably wont fight but should I attack her or should I sit back and research and hopefully transcend, I have prosperous bases that would finish the ascent in about 50 years.I think ill attack Santiago for a laugh, but what would you all do?

Well... don't rely on Treaties to stop Santiago from attacking you... she's about as trustworthy as Miriam when it comes to keeping her end of bargains! If it was me, I'd go for Transcend, but then again, I'm a builder type player, so what else would you expect Mind you, trashing Santiago with a fleet of hovertanks is always fun... or build a few PBs and totally wipe her from the face of the planet (assuming you've got enough troops to fight off the inevitable mindworm bonanza). If you want to keep your shiny Noble Reputation, you'll have to get her to cancel the Treaty and declare war on you... not too hard, though... just demand that she withdraws her forces, or leave your troops standing around in her territory for a couple of turns. Usually works. Nell |

Build some PB's and nuke her then take a couple of bases..keep one near her and obliterate the rest ..then make some probes and unleash some bio death . Whats a couple hundred years of sanctions anyway when you can torture someone at your leisure. But hey thats just me |

in my first game (it was set up easy so i won esaly) towads the emd i had dronriats everyware and had no need for traid income so i stapled the lot. by the time i finished i had well over 800 years worthe of traid sanctions 3 times the linthe of the game from nothing but nerv staples. my sister acused me of being like hitler. iv desided its mor fun to try and keap your population happy and i worked out how to do this.Edward |

Cede all your bases to Sparta! The Spartans WILL rule Chiron you know it makes sense. |

Old_W: Ack... remind me to beware of you, if we ever meet in a PBEM game!!! Did someone steal your password to the forum, or have you gone over to the Dark Side while nobody was watching?? No but seriously, doesn't Planet go berserk on you if you adopt extreme tactics like that? I have enough trouble with mindworms as it is... Nell... shuddering |

Nell...I have aleays been a hateful bastard in smac because it is to me a conquest game...therefore I conquer. Yes it goes nuts but I usually dont start doing that till close to the end of game so it isnt too bad to deal with plus I will have many eco friendly sh.t to help. But really most of my games dont go as far as that .Most are done in 2300's |

Oh yeah and one thing is I do not play for score..I could care less. If I am to rule planet then all else must die so as never to raise up against me again.(At least that is what I would do in real life if I ever decided to attempt to rule the world.) I just dont care about score. The only victory condition I play with on is total conquest except one time when I wanted to try Transcending which I couldnt bring myself to do anyway cause Aredhran and LoD helped me in telling me how to get elite units so I went on a rampage with them and destroyed everyone again before I could transcend. |

As a matter of fact Nell, I even obliterated one of my own bases one time just to keep Miriam from taking it over. I know what a pr.ck I am.Cant help it..any game that has an army in it I will then turn into a war mongering a$$hole ala William T. Sherman style. I thought he was one of the best 3 generals of his time. |

Actually, The planet will let you do one little wave of planet busters. You know. Like 15 to 150 in one turn. Seriously, planet goes nuts. But its a rare time for most people to launch a LOT of PBs. But you can gas a lot. And die by planet. That sucks. It used to be fun to wipe out people with Gas. Then, I could build bases my way with my people! Old Warrior has always been a Conquestador. Where have you been? He just normally doesn't let his blood lust show so much. Old Warrior, I play with ALL victory options on. Just because I have never won by Transcendance or Econonic victory, and only ONCE by Co-operative victory (which I still haven't quite understood HOW [as in what tech made it available, because it suddenly happened]), well, that just means that I haven't done them. Total Conquest is by far the most common, although Supreme Commander is second. Lets me go start the next game. But I know what you mean about score. Seems pretty silly running up the score. Unless that adds to your fun. Doesn't for me though... -Darkstar |

Well... I just never knew that Old_W could be so fierce! Nell... watching her back... hehe PS: Darkstar: I don't have any great scores to my credit either, as I get bored and start a new game when it gets to the point where I'm gonna definitely either win or lose. Can't be bothered to hang about researching endless techs or conquering loads of tiny Spartan bases just to get the points. This is probably why I've hardly ever seen a Hovertank... let alone the Ascent to Transcendence... oh well |
