Hell I have found the cactus guy. In fact I have done almost everything in FF7, without gameshark. I thought the game was short and too easy. The Great Idjit Lodi (insert jenova music) |

Stasis Archon: So you know Latin? Can you translate this for me: Per aspera ad astra I've read one translation, but it was much longer than the sentence in Latin, so I don't know... |

No, I don't really know any Latin. Just a few phrases. Sorry I couldn't help. Could you post the translation you have here? |

Rigil Kentaurus,Your quote means basically, "We are the stuff of stars." In other words, we are made of the same material as stars. Metaphorically, "We are divine." JAMiAM |

Hmmm... it's been years since I was at school, but I know that per = "through", ad = "to" and astra = "stars"... the problem is the aspera, which may well mean "thorns", but I can't remember if it might equally mean "hope"... or would that be "aspira", or "aspiram"?? Now I'm really confused.I do know that Per ardua ad astra means "through hardship to the stars", so errrrr that doesn't really help, does it? Just for the hell of it, the lyrics to A One Winged Angel. With the best translations I've seen.Estuans interius ira vehementi Estuans interius ira vehementi (Burning inside with violent anger) Sephiroth Sephiroth (Duh) Estuans interius ira vehementi Estuans interius ira vehementi Sephiroth Sephiroth Sors immanis et inanis Sors immanis et inanis (Fate--Monsterous and empty) Estuans interius ira vehementi Estuans interius ira vehementi Sephiroth Sephiroth (Chorus 1) Veni, veni, venias Ne me mori facias (Come, Come, oh come, do not let me(us) die) (Chorus 2) Glorioso Generosa (Glorious and noble one) IMO, FF7 has had the best story and plot of any FF game to date...problem is, it's too easy. Knights of the Round is extremely cheesy, and using it with mimics...ugh. No challenge at all in the third disc, even from Emerald or Ruby Weapon. Perhaps FF8 will be better in that aspect. That's not to say FF7 is bad, though. I love the game. Shadowhawk |

Ah... I've never owned a console (well, not after the original Atari one which was responsible for getting me started on the whole computer gaming thing!), so I guess I've missed out on FF7. Thanks for the info, though, Old_Warrior Nell... O tempore! O mores! |

A useless fact about the lyrics to One Winged Angel is that they all seem to come from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. In the frist song, O Fortuna we have: ...Sors immanis et inanis rota tu volubilis... then we have Estuans Interius, from the part In Taberna: Estuans interius ira vehementi in amaritudine loquor mee menti... Then, in Cour d'amours we have Veni, veni venias: Veni, veni, venias Veni, veni, venias ne me mori facias hyrca, hyrce, nazaza... Gloriosa Generosa isn't there, but in Blaziflor et Helena we have: ...virgo gloriosa... and ...Venus generosa... BTW, there is a PC version of FF7. |

Too easy?? Heh heh... try beating it without using any magic, or trying to beat it with the fewest level ups (HP Plus not allowed).Sephiroth is accually harder if you fight him on level 99. Wouldn't the 'Super Nova' attack kill you? It only takes of about 6000 HP. After all, it shows Jupiter explode. Does anyone know how to make Enemy skill duplicate? AP doesn't affect it. Do you need to get all the skills? I love W-Item! The duplicate item trick makes Sylkis greens so more affordable! Has anyone here LOST the last battle? The very last one, where Seph has 1 HP? I have |

Nell...FF7 is when it graduated(to PCs)so you can play it. That is what most have been talking about in this thread. (Version 7 for PC).I think I have owned every console type game system ever made...starting with pong then intellevision, nintendo 8bit 32bit , sega, segacd, playstation etc....I dont mess with them much at all but my girls do. They love The Shining Force 1 and 2 and Chronotrigger(both role playing games and excellent ones at that). My all time favorite on console was Romance Of The Three Kingdoms.Love those KOEI games.

Well, the translation of the latin I've read is either "Through battle to victory" or "On difficult/thorny/hard roads to the stars", so I get that is pretty close to Nell's suggestion: "through hardship to the stars"I know no Latin, though, so any of the other suggestions are probably good as well... |

I've beat Sephiroth as level 99. just cast Knights of the Round with W-Summon. Kills anything except the weapons in one turn. You can actually lose that last battle? I tried to, but when he attacked me he didn't do enough damage kill me. Then Cloud counterattacked and killed him. I only found the W-Item trick useful when fighting the magic pots. Easiest way to get all those elixirs. There's no way to get more Enemy Skill materias than the four you can find. I know. I've gathered all the enemy skills (including chocobuckle ) into one single Enemy Skill materia. I still didn't get a new one. I've heard that enemies also gain levels in FF8, becoming more powerful as you do. That way they'll never be completely hopelessly overmatched. I suppose that's also true for the bosses, but i don't know. |
