When it comes to intellect there are a couple around us that doent have it easy. Personally I wouldn't say I am the most intellectual person to walk this earth however I do have the Brains to be able to play a good strategy game well. There are others however who have not quite mastered this art and this would lead me to believe they have never played the game before and have potential OR they are just plain stupid. Being A Psychologist I have reason to believe that we have a rare case on our hands with this "Interesting Fellow" Hardman. He is rude and abrasive and has amused every single SMAC player ever to read this forum (Except his Mum if she plays SMAC. I have run a full diagnostic on this Chap and here are my results:Stupidity: 7 out of 10 IQ in points: 124 (Average IQ of a 12 year old = 126) Language: Toilet Talk Grammer: Below the bottom of my chart. Is this guy here because he really does like to annoy people? and has he actually ever purchased SMAC or in that matter played it! I believe that a closer analysis is required all we need is a reply and well be off so common Hardman hit this thread with all your Lingual integrity and Wit and well carry on the reasearch....

Hey... is the average IQ of a 12-year-old really 126? I thought that the average IQ of anybody of any age was 100, and that it doesn't change during your lifetime... at least I hope it doesn't, coz if mine goes any lower than I'll be in real trouble! Nell... just wondering, like... |

Just a very small note: It's always interesting when people with poor grammar complain about the grammar of others... |

Or "grammer". But let's not be pedantic - we are dealing with HARDMAN here who goes off the scale compared to even Mr Gates' warped idea of grammar checking. |

Oh yeah, I agree with you. Hardman is pretty pathetic. It's not so much his grammar... I think he actually only knows 2 words or so. Well, if he adds 'ing', 'ed', etc. to the end that can bring his sum total to ummm 6! |

All true... but be fair, the guy provides Grade A comic relief!! Nell |

Actually, Nell, I think the comic relief is from the responses to softman - he's not funny per se, but when you read someone like aredhran dissect him, and then get softman's feeble, spluttering responses - that's where the comic relief comes in.You can tell he wants a certain reaction, and just goes off when all he gets is humiliation. Heather's grammar comment is funny too. (Hi Heather ) I've always noticed that the people who complain about spelling and grammar tend to have their own difficulties in those areas. I think there is a difference though. With some people, you get the sense that they CAN express themselves coherently, but their fingers are running faster than their brains. Then there are those special cases like softman here, who's head is such a perfect vacuum that it will no doubt be found useful for the manufacture of ball bearings and for nanotechnology experiments. Softman is also useful in terms of creationism versus evolution argument - clearly there is a "missing link" walking among us. |

OK... perhaps a better comment would be to say that he's a comedy catalyst? Although I still think his original comments are so banal (and amateurish) as to be funny in their own right Nell... amused by all the wrong things! |

Actually, isn't 100 considered the avg IQ overall? |

Obviously I will not condone people like HARDMAN, but I must say that his presence on these forums has been a refreshing kick up the arse. He certainly has got us talking again, united in our defence of the forums as it where... Just a shame that we needed the "comedy catalyst" in the first place. It reminded me of the old days...<post degenerates into longwinded, misty eyed nostalgia> |

I thought the average IQ was 180. I've only got an IQ of 160, so I guess that's well below average. |

IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is a measure of your knowledge wrt your age. The norm would be 1.00 (knowledge/age) which is commonly called 100. So someone who knows twice as much for his age as the norm would have an IQ of 200 (actually 2.00). Note that this 'norm' is a presumed datum (i.e., no basis in reality) and is biased toward WASP societal norms thus is not an accurate measure for people from different societal norms. |

IOW comparing IQs (especially in forums like this) is just an immature form of dick waving. (Of course this doesn't apply to Nell and any other female on this forum since they have the good sense to not participate in dick waving contests ) |

quizara - the whole IQ thing is a joke. Even if you could define intelligence in a useful way (we all recognize it, or especially lack of it , but a comprehensive definition is almost impossible), measuring it in a useful way is even more difficult. If we were all to go to the Kalahari and find what few bushmen are still living in the wild, none of what our technological culture calls intelligence means squat. It is not only cultural, but a matter of living environment and exposure to information, as well.If someone is illiterate, how do you give him or her a standardized IQ test? The privilege of being exposed to education has nothing to do with an individual's latent ability to learn or solve abstract or concrete problems. Education is merely an opportunity to develop and enhance what is already there, so IQ tests really measure something entirely different than actual intelligence. It's not even dick waving - anyone who seriously makes an issue of what their number is demonstrates that they don't understand how truly meaningless it is. It's analogous to thinking that you are dick waving, while you are unable to dress yourself properly, so you've really got both your legs stuffed into one pant leg. You're waving around the other pant leg, saying "look at me, I've got an IQ of whatever." You think you are waving something other than your empty pant leg, so it appears much larger and more meaningful than it really is. |
