OK, never mind serious bugs or anything like that, how about finding the most pedantic things in SMAC to ramble about? I've got two totally unimportant base name whinges...
1. The UoP base "Climactic Research" should be "Climatic Research"... assuming, of course, that they're researching the climate and not anything else...
2. New typo just noticed!... the PK base "U.N. Data Aquisition" should be "U.N. Data ACquisition"... unless of course this only appears in the UK patch... coz I've noticed that they've made an effort to stick to British spelling for words like Theatre and Saviour, so maybe this error isn't in the US version.
Do I win the prize for ultimate nitpicking and attention to completely irrelevant details?
Nell... actually posting something vaguely SMAC-related for a change!
PS: Yeah, I know I could edit the base names, but I can't be bothered

Whinge? To whine and/or complain? Did you read "Infinite Jest" (by David Foster Wallace) or is that merely a touch of slang from the Isles?
And if said research were merely _clima/t/ic_, I would not be quite as impressed with the University; however, our good Provost did have a "relationship" with the Gaian demigoddess. Then again, that leaves the door open for either spelling! =D

When you select disable music in the game, it does not turn off the noise you hear when you're in the main menu.

You know what is a good base name? Furgus McGurgus. Goes well for leader names as well. Miriam definitely looks like a Furgus, or maybe a Bertha.

Climactic research was spotted by someone else many months ago.
Anyway the way I see it, climactic is from climacteric.Meaning UoP scientists make experiments with old people, in other words they butcher them.Since old people are not generally wanted this is a way to use them for the benefit of society.
What do you think? Zakharov didn't get his reputation of conducting unethical research by accident.
