The longest SMAC session I had lasted from approx. 7.30pm when I got home from work to 5.30am the next morning - thats 10 hours non-stop minus a couple of minutes for toilet break (which I rushed). That's really sad. Absolutely nothing could have distracted me. I missed dinner completely and refused sex with my girlfriend (she calls my computer my 'Mistress' and that if it had a hole I would...). The only reason I stopped was that my vision became so blurred I couldn't see the screen anymore.
Curse Firaxis for making SMAC so addictive!
Can anyone beat 10 hours for a SMAC sessionand whats the biggest distraction someone has ignored cos SMAC is more interesting?

Dude, if you're so addicted that you give up food, sex, and sleep for a game, may I suggest donating your computer to charity?
I'm not actually sure what the longest I've played SMAC straight is. I did spend the entire first weekend I owned it playing it, but I took time out to eat a couple meals, go to the bathroom, sleep, stretch out cuz I had been sitting at the computer too long, and that sort of thing. I may have had as much as 10 or 12 hours without more than bathroom and getting-more-soda breaks that Saturday, but I'm not really sure. I know it couldn't have been that long that Sunday; Sunday is the one day of the week I watch TV, and also the day I'm most likely to make an involved dinner (rather than the I-just-got-home and boy-am-I-tired, what-can-I-cook-in-10-minutes cooking I tend to do on weekdays).

Anyway, here it goes... Wake up Sunday late morn, turn on PC, start SMACing at 11:30. Suddenly, I notice it's dark outside and that I feel hungry, so I run (litterally) to the kitchen, grab some food & drink and run back to my keyboard where I munch on some chips and whatever other junk food I took with me. SMAC n, as someone would put it...
I'm about to reach transcendence by now, and realize that the day is dawning... I wrap up the game, look at the watch... It's a bit past 5 am... there's no point going to bed for less than 2 hours, so I start another game ! Next thing I know, I'm late at work Needless to say, I was pretty much useless that day !
Let me count. I stopped at 7 am, so that's 19.30 hrs, minus more or less 30 minutes of natural body functions to attend to... we're looking at 19 hrs of hard SMAC !
*I* don't have a girlfriend/wife to come and bug me when I play, hehehe

First day, after buying the game.
- bought the game Tuesday, 11:20 a.m,
- called in sick
- started playing at 1:00p.m, Tuesday
- have a wife (but we could still do the you-know-what while I played. Really! The music in SMAC really helped )
- finished Thursday at about 7:00a.m
After that, I told myself: never again...will I do the you-know-what with my wife, because God damn it, if we did not do it, I would probably be playing for 3 more days!

I would have to say 12 hours. From about 10:30 a sunday morning to 10:30 at night. Unfortunately I have to actually stay awake for work or I probably would play through the night.

With SMAC I had sometimes between 15 to 21 hours.
In CIV-times (before I had a wife) my record was 56 hours on a weekend: Fr. 5pm to Mo. 5am. Following working-days 0 to 3 ours sleep (day: office; night CIV, RRT...). Next weekend again ... For weeks and months.

The first couple of weekends with SMAC I'd start when I got home from work around 6 p.m., play 'til about 4. Skip a couple of hours for sleep and soccer, back at it noon-ish, bedtime 4-ish Sunday a.m., up around 9 to play again until midnight. And really suffered Monday morning.
Hmmmm, about 41 hours overall. Then my girlfriend got back and saved my from myself.

You know you're really sad when you take meal and sex breaks (not necessarily simultaneously - unless you like playing with food) and all you think about is getting back there and kicking butt or (in my case) maing energy credits.
