Hey, this ain't no Club 500. All are welcome. I just wanted to congradulate the Red H Running Man. I had figured I was still under... Hey Goob, I was at 480 or so just last week. They do seem to add up. You'll get there soon.
And you haven't been challenged about finishing the game in a couple of hundred turns. Or about such silly things like Cold Water vs. Hot Water.
And Did you see what The Big Jeff said? Go read his replies in Yin's latest thread. I think I am need a ref or a counceller after Jeff's last post to me about not being able to do basic bug squashing... maybe I just didn't communicate it well? Yeah, that must be it.

I remember # 500 was the silliest I ever posted, and I checked the count only right after it. Hmmm..., I wonder if forum masters may give us an updated text statistic of each one's overall posting, like word or character count, and all the averages....

eNo, I pulled the 500 rule came out of the ethers (also known as "out of my a**."). I am keeping my managerial skills up.
The REAL rule is your a vet to whoever thinks you are a Vet. Your a New Member to whoever thinks you are a new memeber.

While I'm rambling on the subject, has it occurred to anyone else that the greater and greater proliferation of non-SMAC related posts on the SMAC forum is probably being caused by the fact that most of us, newbie, vet or hybrid, have been here so long that we've run out of anything SMAC-related to say? I mean, how much CAN you say about a computer game? That's my theory... all this ranting on about vets and non-vets and newbies and oldies and thread-killing and nonsense and life, the Universe and everything is a symptom of having nothing left to say on the subject of SMAC.
Nell... wondering why, of all the threads, I decided to reply to this one first... seeing as I, proving my own theory, have absolutely nothing to say...?
PS: I've lost my cigarette lighter and I'm in a BAAAAAD mood. Errr sorry

Well... I didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade... it was the "newbie/vet" thing I was whingeing about, not the 500th post thing... I actually think that having 500 posts, or a similar large number, is quite a significant event... it means that you've contributed a lot to the forums (always assuming, of course, that your posts aren't just millions of smileys... hehe). But what gets my goat is the meaningless distinction between "vets" and "newbies", so I was complaining because that had reared its ugly head again.
Aredhran, please don't think I was having a go at you, because I wasn't.
It probably didn't help being deprived of my bedtime ciggie... I've found my lighter now, so I'm back to my regular old woolly liberal self
Nell... as addicted to SMAC as everyone else... although probably not as addicted to the forums... but then again... hmmm the jury's still out on that one!
PS: Imran... you do find time to eat and sleep in amongst all this forum-posting, right?!? Or have you transcended to such a point where mortal needs no longer bother you??
