Version 4 has been in test for about 2 weeks at EAHQ and points abroad. English is looking good, though a few revisions have required resubmissions. Translation strings for European versions are falling into place, allowing us to make foreign language builds available to test. As soon as they're all signed off, up they go. jkm firaxis games |

Jeff is probably checking in from home. He does that from time to time.Jeff, since you say you've grabbed back the English 4.0 patch, does that mean that your staff is patching those embarassing bugs like the excess energy from NOT queueing and the credit BONUS that Transcend gets? That is what it SOUNDS like. Not that I mind... fix all the bugs/mispellings/grammar... as long as it is going forward, we will wait and drool and dream... and even play SMAC occasionally. Thanks for the reply! Korn469 - If Firaxis isn't doing patching in SMALL fashion (a bug killed here, a bug killed there), well, lets just say that they have a lot of things to do and check at once, further complicated by wanting to release across language versions simu. So a little patience. And thanks for asking and getting a reply from Jeff. -Darkstar |

One thing that I would certainly appreciate is a *rough* idea as to when I should start looking for the patch. I realize the pitfalls in quoting an exact date & then later not being able to fulfill it, so I'm not asking for that. Just a *rough* idea, such as "next week", "3 weeks from now", "a month", etc., would be nice. If that's still asking for too much, then I'll understand & check back once every couple weeks as I have been doing. TIA. |

I have absolutely no idea. It's in EA QA land, which is on the other side of the country. As the euro-patches start getting hit, they'll be on the other side of the planet. I could guess, but that's worse that no information. If I learn more, I'll post it, but I probably won't have any reliable date until it's signed off. Thanks for the prompt reply. Apparently the whole situation regarding the patch is out of your hands, & that would explain the lack of any news on the subject. That is understandable, & so I'll once again return to my silent vigil. And you're correct, of course, no info. is better than faulty info., as long as we know that progress is being made. |
