My hat is off to anyone who has successfully created a working scenario in SMAC. The scenario editor could have made SMAC into THE BEST turn-based strategy ever, but it is really frustrating. Someone, PLEASE MAKE A MAP EDITOR FOR SMAC! That's all it needs to become a classic, but without it, it is just a decent game. SOMEONE MAKE A MAP EDITOR!!!!!!!!!!

Select the Raise/Lower Terrain from the palette (upper left). Then use Ctrl-Left click to raise terrain.SMAC n ... Ted S. |

I've yet to make a new scenario from scratch, but I have modified the Huge Map of Planet. I'll agree that this isn't the best Map Editor to use. WarlordsIII-DLR had a better Map Editor. It doesn't suck though. The manual isn't right on many things. If the Shift key doesn't work, try the Ctrl key. To raise and lower terrain, you have to select the Elevation pic, select a map square, and hold the Ctrl key and right-click to raise and left-click to lower. It will change the surrounding squares as well. |

That should say Ctrl + Left-Click to raise and Ctrl + Right-Click to lower. |
