posted 05-30-99 02:16 AM ET I have been reading the forums for a couple of weeks now and I have seen alot of post about what people dislike about SMAC. I would like to start a thread about what we think is good about the game. I have only been playing it for about 3 weeks now, I have played Civ and Civ II since they came out.
With SMAC I really like the Blind Research, with Civ II I would get into a rut and go after the same technology every game because it is what worked for me, I like the way the BR makes you think on your feet. Also the Factions are great (but a way to make a custom one would be cool). The custom units are great, it is nice to be able to change unit to meet you needs. Lastly is the many different ways to win.

RunningJester, There are many threads of SMAC love. Always happy ro see another though.
The Factions are fully customizable. I am not te best for describing the process though because I haven't tten in to that.
Find Factions txt files (ie. believe.txt) by modifying those you can create your own factions. There is also a tol called ACEdit 2.0 Someplace in these threads there is the URL to find it, it makes the process very smooth.

I like that you can see what a city is currently building I like the Social Engineering and of course the things that you mentioned (not blind research though) Most of all I like the raise terrain.

Interface ease of use for me is one of the biggest plusses. I find it also good that I can play by either using the mouse or keyboard relatively easily. Also .....Killing stuff.
