Seriously now does anybody really play the believers. I dont, I can't stand them. GOD I cant stand them. Your sitting there, just moving your units and she pops up seething and declares vendetta on you. AGGGGGGGGGGRRRRR!!!! Ohh well i gotta deal with her. I have been keeping up with the forums but this is my first post.I am not a newbie.

right now i am playing the believers. id built a fundamentalistic, green, power regime. yang is the dominating faction on my 230*190 ocean world. un, gaians, morgan and zakarov have accepted (after checking that they havent a chance alone) brother/sister treaties. only the spartans are playing the role of independant terrorists.the -4 research malus of my beloved believers is compensated by excellent probe teams/ships and extended diplomacy. my brothers/sisters staying loyal to me. they gain stolen technology, energy and captured cities from me. in exchange they fight my war against yang. well, its possible to play a fundamentalistic way but its like walking on thin ice. btw my world: 220*190, 90% ocean, no unity capsules, no monoliths, all covered, masses of lifeforms |

I really hated the Believers until I played a game as them. Try it. I think my last game as the Thumpers was one of the most fun games I played.Look at it this way - you won't have to fight her when you are her. |

I'm actually rather enjoying playing them. Just cuz you hate the AI of a faction doesn't mean /playing/ as the faction is automatically bad.So far, having tried 5 factions, the only one I outright dislike playing are the PK. Their limitations don't suit my style(s) at ALL. |

I also like to play as the Believers. You just have to get the right pact brother/sister to keep on top of the tech curve. Brother jsorense Bearer of the Faith, Defender of the Faithful and Avenger of Martyrs |

Mariam bites. her tech disadvantage is not at all fun for me to play I'm more a UoP/MI kinda guy. of course UoP is my first choice but I think the Hive is the funniest to play. |

The streets shall flow with the blood of the unbelievers...You clowns are pathetic. Why so much hate of Miriam if she's so bad, eh? I don't hear any complaints about Morgan--now there's a hopeless sot. Anyway, you clowns, I subjugate a faction--best if University--then send probe teams to steal from the other factions, and expand, expand, expand. I can build 4 units in my bases before they require support and my Believers will eat the Spartans for breakfast everytime. Hunt down Yang and kill that godless Commie, and the rest is easy. BOW DOWN! |

I only played the believers once just so I've played all 7 factions. It doesn't make much sense she is a christian. I think she was originally supposed to be a muslim fundamentalist but they were afraid of stereotyping muslims. I don't like playing her though. I play on huge maps and fall behind quickly if I don't find the other factions soon. |

I've left this thread alone for a while, but I can't resist anymore...I don't play The Believers for two reasons - 1) I think their city graphics are ugly, and more importantly.... 2) They are designed as the Uber War Monger machine Faction. Yep. *THE* Ultimate War machine. With their high support, advanced probe, and attack bonus, they rule. if you aren't winning with them, you aren't running the Ugly Orange Orangatang's Faction the way it is meant to play. Hey, Spartans are meant to be played as Blood Letters on Tiny and Small maps. They do alright to poor as the world size increases. That's due to the fact that they have that industry drag and that their superior morale bonus is wasted pretty quickly. There just isn't anything better than Elite. The Ugly Orange... it's meant to be a Missionary Crusader. You play her like that, and she'll wipe out the hethens that can't be converted for you quicker than you can realize. Ask Holy Warrior about how to play them to win. Me, I find that there is NO challenge running it because of the ease that I win with it, and have stopped using them entirely. -Darkstar |

*shrug* I won a diplomatic victory as the Believers. Guess it's all in the style of the player. What's more, I'd play them again. Just so long as that 'Spoils of War' box is checked. |
