"Good against remotes is one thing, good against the living is another." - Hans SoloIn my humble opinion, the AI is most enjoyable when it is cranked up to the point where it is uncertain if you will win, but it is possible to win. I've played two games on transcend. As the Morgans there was no uncertainty. From the get-go, I was making progress. You're usually okay if you stay number 3 in position until late in the game. As the UoP, I had to restart dozens of times until I got a foothold, then even to the end, there was no assurance that I would win. I kept the peacekeepers as friends (at all costs), because they were bigger than me with losts of PB. I was just waiting for them to nuke me, but they held off. Much more enjoyable than an "assured" victory. As you play, you'll get better and see that an advantaged AI rebalances the game.
BTW, the AI doesn't cheat, per se. Most of the AI's characteristics are published in the manual. You basically know how it is programmed. If it does things you don't expect, be grateful. It makes it more like a living opponent (See above).
