I'd just like to say the most useful SP for any faction is, IMHO, the Cloning Vats. It's always my key to winning (well, that, and a crapload of Hydroponic Satilites and Hab Complexes). After that, I'd say the Virtual World, but I always play as UoP, so that's a little skewered.

MOST Useful?Weather Project. Great being able to have full terraforming from the start. Then... Command Nexus (great savings on the infrastructure), Hunter-Seeker (keep that tech edge, and don't have to stack units to prevent subversion), Human Genome (Gain a little Drone tolerance), CDF (don't have to build those Perim and keeps it out of my opponents hands, Cyborg Factory, Maritime. Everything else is gravy. -Darkstar |

Right on the money as usual, Darkstar ! Although depending on the planet condition, I would add Xenoempathy dome, which can be an awesome asset, and with abundant life forms the (whatever it is that gives +50% psi defense) is a life saver. Aredhran

Thanks Aredhran. I am sure others find different Secret Projects more worthwhile, but that seems to be my top shopping list.XenoDome is a good one as well, but my games tend to be over before I get the tech to build it. -Darkstar |

Most of my games could be over by that time as well, but as I pointed out in some other thread, I go for an early "build up and leave the AI alone" routine, so that they give me a bit more of a challenge later on.For example, in my current Yang game, around MY 2240 I'm facing a 2-front war with two very powerful factions, PK and Believers (I have already reduced UoP, Spartans, Gaia and Morgan to insignificant status). I find it more interesting, even if I don't have many doubts about the final income Just got Synthetic Fossile Fuels (= Missiles, mwuahaha ) I did miss the WP and the CDF (Miriam got'em, which sucks), and Lal has the VW (Volkswagen... hehehe) but I don't care, because with the Gnome Project and my Police bonus I can easily control these drones (and if they bug me I'll just nerve staple them ) Aredhran

Aredhran, you sound like my friend Scott. He used to trade/give away to the computer players his top weapons and deflector screens in MOO, so that he could have bigger battles. He'd smash everything in the galaxy, slam Orion, and pick up Death Rays. Then, he'd give away a bunch of tech (as I said), let the computer build up for 50 to 100 turns and go smash them again. Then, he'd start a new game. He had fun though, and that's the point of playing...-Darkstar |

No no no...best SP by far is Hunter-Seeker.Even as the Believers, I have to build it to keep anyone else from getting it. |

Bah. If anybody else gets HSA, just conquer the base... and it will be yours !Darkstar, you got my point exactly: FUN. That's what it's all about. But an early rush with lasers is also nice, every now and then... Aredhran

Yeah, I used to do that in CivII if I was far ahead of the others. I'd give them all my advances and some of my money. It was more fun crushing them that way . |

There are a list of SPs that I always (one of my favorite combo's is Merchant Exch., Super Collider, Theory of Everything) try to build, but in the mid game (single player) my favorite is the universal translator. I save up most or all of my artifacts and then cash them in at once. Nothing like bashing the AI with singularity hover tanks while they're still using plasma armor and *maybe* fusion power. And of course there's always the fun of giving them tech then PBing them into oblivion anyway. It's so cathartic. |

Why, the A to T of course. You've got to love that movie The Self Aware Colony, awesome, awesome movie, and great effect Ascetic Virtues, the hab +2 helps when you play as Morgan. Planetary datalinks, essential for Miriam |

Combination of CDF/Maritime Control/Comand Nexus is great in the beginning.Xenoempathy Dome and HSA are my favorites in the middle game. Space Elevator is the best at the end. That and drop units = end of the game in 15 turns. |

The Dream Twister movie is pretty cool. it can be useful too as the gaians or when fighting the gaians. I had to use that in conjunction with empath infantry to crack her bases. |

The most useful SP...I would probably say the Cloning Vats. But never underestimate the combination of the Theory of Everything/Supercollider/Merchant Exchange in the same base. Major tech! |
