Seems to me like we are all in the same VG groove. I almost feel like it is a waste of my time ,.....but.....every once in awhile you find someone who just doesnt get it and it's like you just wish you could drive the right point home right into his thick skull. Any way how bout them Yankees huh?

Old Warrior, I'm not pissed. You all have yet to see me pissed. I'm just slightly annoyed... its getting to pissed.. but its not quite there yet. When it is.. I will probably get banned from the forums for flaming somebody to death. Then arrested for computer assisted homicide. Teah old warrior, I see it as useless too at times.. then I think I see a sliver of intelligence coming from him, and it give me hope.. but the sliver disappears. Trippin Daily -what about the yankees?- |

Just hopeing they are gonna win it all again so everyone that thinks the game is not balanced can go on with that nonesense idea especially the Media. Baseball is my passion. I can tell you so much about it right from the beginning almost. |

Baseball is the only American sport I seem to like. But it's hardly ever on TV . |

I,ve seen some of the anti-VG threads and I can't see why you are SO pissed at him. May be caused by some older threads? In the Apolyton off-topic threads people are saying things about gays that make me really want to flame, if I wanted to flame at all. |

It's not that I'm _pissed_ at him. It's just that his attitude is so offensive and just plain annoying. Plus it's entertaining to rip his arrogant posts to shreds. Each time he sits down at the keyboard and posts he just digs himself deeper and deeper. The post that got me going was in the "Brian Reynolds posted this on alt.games.firaxis.alpha-centauri" topic. I resented being called a newbie by VG. And it wasn't just that, it was ... well, go read that topic and maybe you'll see why. SMAC n ... Ted S. |

Sorry guys... I used the term pissed too lightly .I think a better word would be aggravated. Anyway, Valtyr...can you not get any games on a satellite dish? Man that would kill me . Gotta have my Mets and Yankees. Yes I like both teams , surprising for a new yorker but I like one for each league and if they ever meet in a subway series I can't lose jimmytrick...I have the 1969 season of APBA baseball card set and the all-time greatest teams set. This is in the board version. I do not have it on computer yet, although I contacted them and just got a brochure in the mail about 3 weeks ago. It is wild to play a game with Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle and Berra all in the same lineup going against other guys from the 1800's to late 1900's. Get it if you can. Its is the All-Time Greatest Teams Series. Very cool |

Dutch Drone... you see how it makes you feel when someone shows intolerance towards others(in the apolyton forums that you speak of about gay bashing)Well that is sort of like it is with Victor. No tolerance towards other people who might have opposing ideas to his ,plus an arrogance about him that needs to be taken down a few notches until he gets back to a reality level. That is what alot of this is about. Besides baseball being a passion of mine ,I also feel passionately about treating fellow men with common courtesy and respect. Thats all for now. |

Oldwarrior_42 Yes, go Yanks! Just beat THE HATED RED SOX by a score of 8-3 today. I would suggest that if you want a computer baseball game try Strat-O-Matic. It has replay seasons from 1901 on and is pretty close to the real game strategy wise. It's not one of those Hand-eye coordination tests. |

Walrus... I played Strat-o-matic and I liked APBA a little better. Similar games they are and you can get all the seasons from APBA also. We are having a tougher time this year than last but I had figured that was to be expected. |

What kind of stats does the computer version keep? How's the graphics? Can you easily mix and match players from different years? How much managing can you do? How about drafts and the computer controlled manager? I never played APBA so I'm curious as to the features the computer version might have. |

Walrus.....I just got the brochure a few weeks ago on the comp. version and havent gotten it yet. May be awhile as I am into smacin' right now but if I get it in the future I will be sure to let you know. As far as the board version is concerned, you can mix and match all you want and manage out the ass in it, including overmanaging. The all time greats sries is fantastic because each team is represented by all its best players through out the history of the team. For instance the yankees roster has Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra, Dickey , Meusel, Skowron, Coombs, Pennock, Ford, Guidry etc.... Very cool.My brother and I used to put all the players in a draft and start choosing players and when you have a team with Ruth ,Foxx, Gehrig, Williams, Cobb, it rocks. You can do all you wanted to know about with the board game. I just hope you can do the same with the comp version. |

OldWarrior- Pretty much can do the same thing with Strat. What really rocks in the computer version is all the statistics it keeps for you. I used to play leagues and the games would take 10 minutes to play but keeping the statistics would add on 20 to 30 minutes. With the computer version it keeps all the stats for you and can replay entire seasons in minutes once you set up the managerial parameters. Playing games with a lineup you describe is fun, but the real challenge is managing a team were you gotta play with some players that hit .220! Knowing when to pinch hit, when to relieve and who with. Who pinch hits for Babe Ruth! I have heard that APBA is pretty good, I hope the computer version has the necessary features.

From what I understand it does have very good stats management, like SOM. Like I said they are probably very similar its really just a preference and what you are used to. Also I played the 1969 season over and yes it is alot more management knowing when to relieve and pinchhitand all.The yankees sucked in 69 remember. I just like to get into different types of games now and then. Lots of management or little. And of course no one pinch hits for Ruth. |
