Author Topic:   Another newbie question: How do I get "Air Superiority"?

I'm late in a game, and I'm getting rocked because I can't figure out how to give my units the Air Superiority talent. I've researched the prerequisite techonolgy (I think. I have air tech and Doctrine: Flexibility) so what do I have to do to give my units the capability?

Go into the design workshop. Design a new plane or coptor. One of the abilites you can give it should be "Air Superiority (Attacks air units)". Give it that, slap on whatever armor/weapons/reactor you want and you're set.

That's odd. If you have Doctrine: Air Power, you should be able to build units with this ability:
Doctrine: Air Power
EXPLORE 5
Chassis Type: Needlejet (M8)
Abilities: Air Superiority Ability
Base Facilities: Aerospace Complex
Leads To: Mind/Machine Interface,Orbital Spaceflight
Formers May Construct Airbase
Are you sure you fully checked the special abilities list ? You might have to scroll it down (sorry if this seems stupid)
BTW, Doctrine: Flexibility has nothing to do with airplanes (gives you foil chassis and troop transport ability, IIRC)

Oh, and Evk, the unit does not have to be an air chassis. You could have ground units with SAM ability (someone correct me if I'm wrong - I usually don't let the other factions get to Air Power, so I don't have much use for Air Superiority - I just build bombers )

You can definitely put it on land units, and one presumes other chassis types. Very useful if you're next to someone who breeds planes like a rabid rabbit. SAM units on alert, yummy border/city guards.

Yep. I've slapped Air Superiority on Foils before to slap down naughty bombers messing with my ocean resources (bases, kelp, etc)...
