There are seven different AI personalities in SMAC - but just because the gamer choose to play one particular faction, doesn�t mean that he plays them exactly the same way the Game-AI would. In fact any good SMAC-gamer can play any faction much more effectively than the game-AI can.
About halfway trough the game, the skilled human player almost becomes an indestructible �Alien� � the eight passenger. The Game-AI controlled factions takes one the role of these poor and weak humans, which the Alien can easily devour one by one, then he chooses to do so.To cure this unbalanced competition-problem, i would like to suggest at least two AI toggle options (in the name of better AI competition):
Toggle option 1: AI develops each controlled faction just as much, instead of concentrating on the one-two strongest (negative aspect: longer turns - especially late in the game).
Toggle option 2: AI monitors how many bases the human player has, and always tries to build just as many, for each and every controlled faction.
Above is a good start. Have you guys any more suggestions?
