Aside from the lost of Singularity Engine's added HP, anyone notice how long it takes to get to a Fusion reactor? Even if a person researchs directly for it, it still takes a while. And later on, with the increase energy/research the other reactors come at a breeze to the point where getting it is just more PTs to total Score. I hope the research trees get tweaked in the Add-on. Anyone else with ideas? My $0.02

In a way I agree with you. It is not as bad in SMAC as it is in CtP, but it could use some work. One of the things that makes a good game of this type is a good, solid tech tree, which CtP definately does not have. It's so f*cked up I don't bother trying to make any sense out of it. The prerequisites are just so unrealistic that I refuse to play it until the first patch (of the 1,000,000 needed) comes out. SMAC could use some work, but I'm just glad it doesn't really suck @$$. |

I think the reason why Fusion Reactors take awhile to get is because they revolutionize alot. With the reactors you get double hit points, cheaper units, bigger transports, longer-flying aircraft and Fusion Labs, which are nothing to scoff at.Second, I disagree completly that getting Quantoms/Singularities are "a breeze" The distance between Quantom Chambers and Fusion Reactors is nearly as long as the distance between Hab Complexes and Hab Domes. |

But the difference between Quantum Chambers and Singularity Engines is not much. |

eNo:Point being? The difference between Sing/Quantom isn't much, you are quite correct. But then again, the difference between them on the tech tree isn't much either, infact, it is possible to get Singularity engines before Quantom Chambers. If you want you could always set Singularities up at Controlled Singularity. |

Just trying to reinforce StargazerBC's point about the engines being a little close together. |
