Shad,The missile issue is a long and sore one with me, but I'll share my experiences with you if you promise to send me some Italian sausage.
Mmmmm (ABSOLUTELY NO GAY JOKES ALLOWED, Evk.)
First, Brian Reynolds once suggested building Aerospace Complexes in your cities to help absorb damage from conventional missiles. I never tested this (you'll see why).
Second, you can always build "cheap" scout units and make them the defenders of your cities: You do this by selecting the unit, then "Action," then "Set as Defender." This will now mean that the missile hits the puny little scout unit and not your expensive X-Penetrators.
Third, you could turn off conventional missiles all together until Patch 4 comes out. Why? We FINALLY proved to Firaxis that there is a missile bug that allows the computer to hit you from anywhere on the map (and quite possibly allows the computer to generate infinite missiles). You can turn this off by going into the terran.txt file and switching Conventional Missiles = Disable. (Is that right, guys? It's been a while since I made that switch.) Anyway, if you have any problems, post again, we'll help you.
O.K.--Where's the Italian food?
