Go try running a search on any topic... I was looking for the one on cow tipping, so i could point my finger, no results... so I tried smac... I got no results, and it was set to search the whole game forum from day one. wow, I'm surprised firaxis could even make smac, since they can't seem to be able to get a search engine to search.

... these forums are actually run by Electronic Arts (or so Firaxis tell me), and so EA's to blame not only for the non-availablity of UBB and the various forum crashes, but also for the non-working search engine!!

It's true that EA runs the www.alphacentauri.com forums. Sounds like the to-do list for our future webmaster just got a little longer..

Since, I'm operating our forums which use the same script, I think I know what's wrong. In order for the search script to work, an index of the threads must exist. So, the only thing the admin of these forums must do, is go the control panel of the forums(a web interface for the administrator) and go to the "Index" option...

Thanks everyone for replying.. at least now I know that electronics arts is our culprit, not FIRAXIS... I also know that I making there new webmasterm when they get him, if they haven't already, work I'm probably going to kick kicked off the forum for actually giving him a reason to go to work
