Liked penguins. Commercial on TV for BC Sympatico, with emails such as [email protected]. Thought it would be cool to be [email protected]. Hence sir_penguin or Sir Penguin. It evolved from there. / |

Wyarian Pryde: The story of my nick is very boring, here is how it goes, my surname is Mangion so at school everybody either Mango or the guy who crashes the network. i prefere the earlier one. So that was my nick for a long while on the web. Untill as part of my a_level biology extended study i had to grow several different types of mangos, and so the lesser inteligent of the people in my class, started calling me the mangoBreeder, it kinda stuck and i have been using it ever since Alphaman( if you remeber him gave my an award for the most orignal nick on the web) which wa kinda kewl. laurens: An intelligent but un imaginative answer your answer although true lack any emotion and not wit at all look at the kings of wit on this forum prizes go to: And if you remember him BILLGATESMUSTDIE they all used their brain too but to a greater extent than you laurens: ohh god i have to choose a nick god my postings are getteting longer and longer. |

Raging Mouse is a mutation of my real name, given to me in school. Mostly to tease me. Anyways, the nick popped into my brain as I sat there, and I kinda liked the unlikely image that forms.. boring, huh? Well, you asked. |

Actually, I started out posting with my real name. Everyone else had cool handles so I was was trying to think up something. I tied a couple but didn't like then. I had always liked the long instrumental in that old Fleetwood Mac song "Oh Well". Also, when something goes wrong, I am apt to shake my head and mutter "oh well". So I picked "OhWell" as a handle. |

Well, mr original nick was Big Mad Drongo which, if you read Terry Pratchett novels, you will know is the name of one of the three students mentioned at the High Energy Magic Building at Unseen University in 'Soul Music' The reason I changed is because I tried to change my password and email address at the same time and somehow my password got lost and never sent to me...whoops! My new name is a character from an extract from a pulp I once read called, surprisingly enough, Greatheart Silver. Both highly unimaginative I know, but I like them so....yah boo sucks to you!! |

P.S. sir_penguin...is that symbol a runic talisman created by combining the runes Ken and Ansur? Or did I get the second one wrong, I can never remember the names! |
sir_penguin |
posted 09-30-99 10:05 PM ET
Naw, I made that up on the back of a napkin (talk about unoriginality). I was seeing if I could combine S and P into a nice-looking symbol, and that's what I came up with. I don't know about Ken and Ansur, but now you've piqued my interest. (Argh) SP |

My mother just so happens to have a book on runes, I've just looked in the appendix, and I think that the ones you mean are the ones that make the S sound and the one that makes up the W sound (or TH--they're similar, but not quite the same). Oh, I've just found something else. The S shaped one is Sigel and is the rune of will. The P shaped one (makes W sound) is Wunjo, and is the rune of happy endings. The other one I thought you might mean is Thurisaz and implies the Hammer of Thor. Makes sense? Hm. Sir Penguin |

All my life there have been two great forces which carry me away. My wife and my favorite band in the world, Led Zeppelin. I didn't want to use my wife's name and have you all think I was a girl so.... LdZpln |
Valtyr |
posted 10-01-99 03:54 PM ET
Argh! The other day I read about a guy called Valtyrson. And if there are people called Valtyrson there probably are people called Valtyr as well. And I thought my nick was unique. *sigh* |

KOSHKO is my last name. Am I original or what? |
Natguy |
posted 10-02-99 08:29 AM ET
Well, my first name is Nathan, so... "Natguy" Would you believe that I once got first place in a district-wide literature thing for a poem I wrote? I think that the gene for creativity was deleted from my DNA shortly thereafter. (And I have to write a short story for English this weekend and have an all-day band contest today! Come back little gene come back!) |
The DirectorGeneral |
posted 10-05-99 01:06 PM ET
I am the Director General for reasons that remain classified. I am also known by the following handles in some circles: Advinius Longinus (my persona name for my historical reinactment group. as one might guess, I chose to portray a late period imperial Roman.) Black Philodendron (some friends decided to hand out weird code names to everyone we knew. mine kinda stuck.) The Goober (My girlfreind's pet name for me. I must love her, since I put up with it... ) The Great and mighty RA (A very long and odd story behind this one. As I no longer hang out with that peer group, this one has fallen into disuse.) And so on. I guess I'm just one of those people that accumulates weird nicknames like some people collect lawn gnomes. |

Argh! Now I know I'm not unique. I was registering at the Ultima Ascension forums and I found out that somebody else was using "Valtyr". I mean, how many people read Old Norse literature? |

It is a well known fact that only FIRAXIANS are stupid enough to misspell their name as FlRAXIS so it must be genuine. |

My nickname is based on the character "Speedy Cerviche" from the Samurai Pizza Cats anime cartoon. I had originally attempted to use "Extra-Topping Speedy" and "Winged Speedy", but this was the first nickname I tried that fit the 9-character limit on EFnet IRC. - White Cat (Refer to me with an underscore, and you die ) "Look! Lurker is trolling again" |
