Do you have any ideas for games that should be made? You know, any designs lingering in your mind? I would appreciate as many of them as possible. Post them at The Open Forum for Gaming Ideas... I thought the service was needed, that's all. |

What idiot is going to post their (perhaps) valuable ideas for games in a public forum? |

Anything you post in a public forum counts as being "published" (My lawyer friend assures me). Therefore, you automatically recieve the copyright to that idea... Anyway, what would you rather do? Keep the idea in your mind, almost certainly ensuring that it will never, ever get published. |

Darksider - I like that. You are very practical. |

I have an excellent idea: 7 distinct factions breakaway from a fusion powered unity. they land on a foreign planet called chiron which orbits one of the centauri systems stars, has this been taken? |

Yeah, and then you could put a bunch of bugs into it to keep interest going, and then release an expansion so that people can complain that the factions are almost the same as the originals! Great idea! Hey, how about a sequel to Civ 2? You couldn't use the Civilization name, but how about getting Sid Meier in on the deal? Or Brian Reynolds? Or Jeff Morris, he'd be a good PR manager! Wow, get on it! SP |

Hey, here's an idea--SimGov. If you made it a really hard and complex game, you might get some funding from the government. Then, since the government is involved, you could release it a year or two late. Then, you could have time on prime time TV to advertise, like the government. SP |

How about a millenium dome simulator where you design a completely pointless structure, then even when its clear noone wants it keep throwing money at it until its finished (just after the millenium) - you could have bonus points for having to close more than 5 hospitals to pay for it. Then you could have a bit where you realise you dont have anything to exhibit in it. And as a grand climax perhaps it could be taken over by a mysterious alien force and blown up on new years eve when its full of politicians. Beta-1 |

I've loads of ideas for games but I don't want them ripped off! The artillery in SMAC was my idea! Seriously I sent a mail to Microprose suggesting it (b4 Sid left) but god only knows if it was read or not. This would be a thorny legal issue with long pedantic arguments over where ideas come from. |

You mean you were the only person to consider having long-range firing? One of the things that bugged me about Civ 2 was the "artillery" needing to engage in close combat. Sorry for thinking your idea. John III |
