I just saw a item on the local news about a trio of brothers who are starting university at 14,15 and 16. Anyone here think this is normal (for those non-UK people out there over here we normally start at 18-19) The're going to miss out on so much of the social side of life at uni - their not even old enough to get into the campus bars! Beta-1 Feels very sorry for them

Well, you know, not ALL campus social life revolves around drinking. But you do have a point. These kids (especially the younger two) would kind of be ostracized from most social activity due to their age. Even the oldest wouldn't be allowed into an R-rated movie, for god's sake. |

I just thought - because of the insurance issues involved they wouldn't be able to take part in any "contact" sports. So that rules out the sports clubs and the drinking (althought they tend to be the same thing) |

your absolutely right fellow brit beta (1), such things must be banned, perpetrators rooted out, and any further under-aged higher-education punished by forced labour (or even death) for all parties involved.damn freaks. |

Some students opt out of the drinking culture and take up the underground drug/dance culture but they tend to be very pale, thin and only come out at night. There's no age limit on illegal drugs so they could join that group. |

Perhaps I should follow that up with some Essex girl/man jokes - but as I've lived most of my life there I guess that would be a little self defeating.Beta-1 Comes from the nice bit of Essex |
