You could luck out and get free internet service from a company whose main computer doesn't realize you are on it. There are some companies that allow limited-access unlimited free service. Recently, I saw an advertisement for a personal internet link. You pay a one-time fee. Then you have your own private access for free for the rest of your life (supposedly). |

We get it in the UK from just about everyone, as we pay for our internet calls here so the ISPs take advantage of that John III |

Some ISPs get into a deal with a telephone company so that even the calls can be free. But you have to swop your phone company to them obviously as they want to pick up revenue on your other calls. I heard that it isn't so great as it seems as it is too popular and the service level hits rock bottom, not that I've tried it. |

Gary, you refer to Screaming.net, right? Well I know quite a few people who use it and they have few complaints right now, although one is connecting at 14.4kbps occasionally (sp?) John III |

The other option(Altavista's service for example) is special software that constantly displays advertising on your screen when you're connected. |
