Everyone seems to have migrated elsewhere, but SMAC OT should end with a bang, not a whimper, so we needs some ideas for what to create the bang. One huge story thread? A massive debate? Any ideas? John III

I do every day. Pity no one else does, so I lurk among myself and the old threads. Pathetic...sob sob.But yeah, we should bang something - or REVIVE THE PLACE AGAIN!!! I mean, what is the BIG reason everyone left? None, it just started and then it was a domino effect. Well, I say it can be reversed. |

Not everyone.ACOL may be more visited than here, but that's about it (so far). Meanwhile it has yet to reach the heights this one used to be at. |

I agree with GaryD, ACOL is certainly a lot busier than here, but the most of the posts are one liners. It sort of reminds me of when MikeH first started to post here. Maybe that's why he likes it better there. |

Hmmm, at a guess how many frequent posters are here? It seems only about 15-20! Have we simply run out of things to talk about? Inceivable! |

Be controversial. Nothing brings the punters back quicker than a few threads debating the best way to stir-fry baby otters. |

I'm still maintaining occasional vigil, but I prefer Firaxis definitely. Apolyton, alas, has more posters though.ACOL never really appealed to me... I suppose I'll take another look. |

Dreadnought Its quite possible that weve run out of things to talk about. Weve been over the capitalism/communism thing a few times, weve debated the gun issue (which they BTW are running over at SidGames right now), weve debated death penalty, AI, and philosophy as a whole, etc, etc. Eventually you reach a point where the arguments run out and youre starting to re-run them, and with no new people "worthy" of discussion the forum dies.I mostly post at the LRCIs discussion forum now, or at SidGames. Well, the LRCI discussion mostly contains slanders, petty bickering and wild accusations regarding whos the most stalinist and who ostracised (sp?) who. (Sure glad Im not member of that organization ) BTW In case you wonder, LRCI stands for League for a Revolutionary Communist International (Well Im sure you couldnt care less about that one, so its no use me continuing yapping about that, is there) Bishop |

How are you going to be able to pull all the true leavers (as opposed to the free-floaters) back here though? |

I think you have to rely on push rather than pull. When wherever they have gone, starts to suffer the same problems, then they look again for a new home. So this place needs decent subject threads that will prove difficult to resist when that time comes. (I guess "OK, who still reads this?" doesn't count as one ) |
