I'm doing what may be my last post of the week, although probably not, as all this weekk I have to attend that horrendous creation that mortals fear to call "Band Camp"Eight and a half hours every day of marching out in the hot sun (thank God that heat wave is over!) playing the songs over and over and over, just marching and playing and marching and playing for eight and a half hours! Not to mention that our band director will probably throw one of his little fits (he has a great reknown for being rather childish) resulting in laps. ::sigh:: Oh, well. I knew it was coming when I joined band. At least it's only a week, and we do have a long lunchbreak. Well, goodbye. I'm off to the gallows.

Try running your a** off for 8 hours a day in soccer practice instead of marching. It's harder. On the other hand, I quit band because I absolutely HATED marching and my instructor. Soccer practice was actually preferable. |

I'm thinking of a scene from American Pie. Can you guess which one? Band camp ain't all that bad. I was outside for 6 hours in 100 degree heat (120 heat index) a few days ago, and supprisingly It wasn't that bad (maybe my brain melted and I wasn't able to tell...). Also, you've got to love dorkball (might be just a regional thing, but suffice it to say that it's baseball played with colorguard poles, where upperclassmen ALWAYS win). Seriously though, I don't know why I'm in the band. The music ain't that great, the marching isn't enjoyable, and I don't buy into that group mentality crap (take that, hivesters!). At least I've got plenty of friends in it. |

Eh, I've sort of gotten used to it, especially since today I discovered that I can take the 12-minute walk to my house over lunch. (Tomorrow I'll measure my pace to see how far it is) The music is actually pretty easy and the drill won't take too long to learn. My direcor alos hasn't thrpwn a single fit, to my surprise. Maybe he's more relaxed since this year we hired a guy to write the drill. ($1200 seems a little overpriced)We don't play dorkball. If we did, I think that we underclassmen might defeat the upperclassmen as we are over double their number. |
