On 26 July, the two mentioned visited a forum other than Apolyton and dared to say that Apolyton had the better forum. Granted, YYYH and Stewart were enthusiastic about this. But this is no reason to ban them. They didn't threaten ageofkings.com, merely had some fun, now completely regretted and apologised for, at their expense.

If what they did was so bad, then Force9, Stewart's ISP, would not have taken the view that the purporters of this ban were "behaving ridiculously". Force9 would have otherwise immediately kicked Stewart off the server of Force9. This did not happen. This is a professional business serving a large number of people and can not afford to have its reputation tainted. Force9 did not have its reputation tainted. Gamestats and Apolyton did.

We also put to you that many people on Force9 are now without access to Apolyton and all other Gamestats sites. This is a harsh punishment. I will quote, "ten guilty men walking free is preferred to one innocent man being punished". I see that Gamestats don't follow this proverb, even assuming YYYH and Stewart were guilty of anything, which we did not believe they were.

Stewart and YYYH did not sign a contract with Gamestats. They were not shown to their rules when we signed the forums. They were not made aware that by going to another forum and saying that a different one is better, they will be banned without trial.

This email is written so that the Civilization 2 community can have a joint say in what has become a farce. The forums, and therefore site, of Apolyton have become much less popular since the banning of YYYH and Stewart. Markos and Dan, the administrators, will vouch for this. Some forum moderators have also mentioned that they disagree with this punishment, and will do all they can to remove it. They haven't been removed from their posts, by the way.

We suggest that this ban is immediately lifted forthwith. It is in Gamestats, Apolyton's, and the Civ2 community's better interests.
