I don't feel like going through it all again, so go to Apolyton to read up on it. Don't post there though, because Apolyton sucks.

Just curious, but did they just delete YYYH's posting account, or did they do an IP ban? If the latter, wouldn't that also cut off everyone who happens to use the same ISP? Also, does this mean that you can't even *visit* any sites on the Gamestats server?

He went to another Gamestats forum and tried to get people to go to Apolyton so he got banned from the Gamestats network.

Hmm. I went over to the GameStats homepage and researched this a bit, and under their legal things it said that they reserve the right to deny someone access to the entire GameStats network without any prior warning or cause. Bastards. What we need is some vigilante justice. Good thing I've got plenty of vigilantes.
Gets the nukes ready and aims them for GameStats HQ

YYYH and Stewart Spink went to another off topic forum (the one of Age of Kings) and started several threads in which they bashed that forum and praised Apolyton.
Basicly that's what they did and for that they were banned from the apolyton forums permamently.

Ahhh Apolyton who needs them ! Let�s all go to Apolyton and spam the hell out of them. "Apolyton sux ! Go somewhere else" What can they do if 50 of those threads start appearing, or 100 or 200 ? Hell, they�ll have their work cut out for them for a long time.

LISTEN, Apolyton (DanQ or MarkG) did not ban them, Gamestats, their big bosses did.
DanQ and MarkG only banned them for one day originally, but Gamestats believed it was necessary to ban them forever.

Well, if any of you know Iain Lindley, he uses the same ISP as I, and will return from his two week holiday with school, which started the day I got banned, to not being able to access his favourite site due to my actions and the ridiculous nature of the Gamestats administration.

I believe that the ACOL cookies are to track when you're logged on. They also remember your password and account name when posting. If you really hate cookies, you can always delete them at the end of a session.
I went to apolyton, and didn't even register. Ecch.
The banning of one person wasn't the only thing that turned me off. Things just went nuts earlier this month. And in general, the likes of itdoesntfit, Kalahari, Chrisk, HARDMAN, and company helped to kill off my enthusiasm for alpha.owo.com.
The forum may be unmoderated, but that doesn't mean much if anybody in the world can complain about you to management. The censorship remains. I don't feel much need to look over my shoulder for an informant before cracking a joke.
The flaming going on degraded into personal insults. You suck, you're gay, yadda yadda, etc. And there wasn't much of a live-and-let-live atmosphere. The blah threads got smiley-bombed, the newbies taunted the vets, the vets taunted the newbies.
So I registered at ACOL.

I would too. ACOL is also unmoderated, so it's not much like a police state. I have to admit that tomorrow, all the "baddies" I named could register and trash ACOL if they wanted to. But nobody would get thrown off for sending some of the abuse back their way. Cynically, you could say it's a question of inconsistent enforcement versus nonexistent enforcement.
I'm going to come off my high horse on this forum thing. ACOL isn't perfect, neither is alpha.owo. I never completely stopped posting here. I never meant just to come here and put down the forum.
I'm only interested in a good discussion. Just not at Apolyton
