Well, would anyone like to participate? I can play Quake, QuakeWorld, Quake 2, Quake 3 Test (my favourite) or Half-Life (never really DM'd though).

I would play in a Half-Life Deathmatch, or TFC. I would like to play in Quake 3 Test, but the damned thing ****ed up my video card drivers. Spent a week getting my system up and running again.

John III I play quite a lot of Half Life DM, not so much when it's sunny outside, but I'd love to kick your butt across the internet if you want. I uninstalled Q2 months ago, I can't really be bothered to reinstall it and patch it up to a level where I can play it on the internet. If you see [Mystic4]Sparkatron anywhere that's me, and don't worry about the clan tag we are the least profficient clan on the internet. Clan Mystic 4 People can't actually believe we are in a clan.
I haven't got Q3 Test yet so I can't play that I'm afraid. I was thinking about downloading it but I think my graphics card would have an fit.

I'm in for Quake2, Quake 3 Test and especially Half Life, if anybody would be so kind to share his reg key with me that is. I have a key, but it's not valid for WON, and as much as I know, that's the only way to play it..damn.
I kick ass in Q3, but can play it only in the period of 00:00 to 06:00 AM Central European time. For the rest of the time I have a transfer of such might, that I wasn't able to play Duke Nukem in a 2 player deathmatch..anybody got a T1 line that I can borrow?

Aaargghhh...nooo AvP pliiizzzzz...The last time I tryed that [censored] in MP I almost ended up throwing the monitor out the window...although..maybe I would agree to a classic custom map multiplayer if I was playing an alien and everybody else is playing the marines. Ah, JohnIII can play the Predator, so that he doesn't get nervous when he gets his head bitted off..and crunched with delight, afcourse.

Why doesn't anyone here play Q3? I mean, the maps are well-designed (no campers ), the weapons are cool, the whole game is DESIGNED for MP, I mean COME ON PEOPLE!
Half-Life DM, from my limited (and laggy) experience, is too slow compared to Q3, but I will play if nothing else is available. I can play anytime weekends, and any time except between 08:00 and 18:00 GMT weekdays.
MiKaeLe, can't you just use GameSpy? I always do, and have great fun on TFC, as the mastah Scout

I just checked out the Q3 download! That'd take me hours to download. I can't be bothered especially as I don't think my video card will work properly. Plus isn't there only one internet map? Doesn't that get boring?
I don't find HL DM slow at all. It's fast and frenetic as long as my ISP connection doesn't decide to drop halfway through. Still.

Mike, compared to Q3 Half-Life is like Civ next to Red Alert There are 3 internet maps, with Q3Tourney being my favourite.
Also, on my first real try (Sunday) a person with a ping of 20-ish was winnning. Mine was in the high 200's!
WP, I have a Voodoo 2, what do you have? Whatever it is, you would probably need the latest drivers, which are always nice to have anyway.
MiKaeLe, I'll see if I can get a reg key off a friend, and if you're going to be like that then I'll slice you in half-with my super-duper homing disc :P

Yep, that was a good comparison, sir John. Even Q2 was 60% faster in multiplayer..although I don't find the feeling of people flying around you like rockets to be amusing or even interesting at all...Half Life shall be my doom as soon as I menage to get my hands on a key..
And why do you get so nervous about me kicking your ass JohnIII? That's the way neture goes. Bigger predators eat smaller predators, and so on..

MiKaeLe, face it, Aliens are wimps. A Marine with a sense of direction and a pulse Rifle can take you down. For the Predator they need a Minigun.

I have a Creative Blaster Riva TNT, and as I said before, last time I tried to install Q3, my drivers all died. My computer wouldn't even let me reinstall the old ones.

Install the Detonator drivers for Riva TNT. They will make you card 20% faster, and more reliable. I don't know the download site, but if you haven't got them, I will be glad to mail the to you. And afterwards bite your head off with delight.

WP, the Detonator drivers are 3.3megz..I'd hate sending this by mail, since it will take a eternity to do it(at least from my pint of view). And I am no sure if you'd have the mail capacity to get it on Hotmail.

I normally play HL in the evenings between 6:30 and 9pm or so. Almost always on Demon DM 1 to 4. I played Venom on there and he had a 350 ping from North Carolina with only a 56K modem so it's not too bad from the states, it'd be fine with a fat connection.

This is from a quick match on the Snark pit, and a note, Porckchop is/was a Gluon Gun Camper, and so the lowest form of life.

No problem on Subtransit, everyone should have the gluon it's so easy to get.
You get more kills on Snarkpit getting the gluon and taking the fan up into the main bit of the level, you don't die as quickly, you can replenish your health and you can toss bombs down into the pit which has got me kills before.
I saw a player called.... Player camp the gluon in the room off the main square in Boot Camp, I went from 50 - 20 to 60 - 40 flushing him out of there, constantly screaming abuse, in the end I killed him with his own tripbombs (and myself) then went straight back and killed his sorry arse with the pistol. That last kill won me the map. Took 45 mins, there weren't enough players on it.
What servers do you play on John III? I don't have ICQ.

Personally, I can't see how anyone can use that gun, I mean, it LAGS! Whenever I try to play with it, the gun is almost 3 seconds behind the rest of the game . Oh well, I never use it anyway.

Well Mike, I went from 25/11 to 31/25, so they are evil and must be killed. I play on the fastest servers available, as long as they have maps that I own.
And something I just noticed, my latency was 49 more than anyone else's! What is it with HL?

Kids, I think my schedule is a bit weird for your taste. I won't be able to play the European players, but I'd be glad to challenge any American piece of flesh. That is becouse I am only able to play multi after midnight CET.
Good news. I just won a Quake 3 contest here. It was a 5 player deathmatch, played on a LAN network. It took 3 hours to open the champagne..but it was worthed..now all the chicks here adore me
Anyway, I won't be able to kick John's lazy butt untill I get a better line. Sorry.

John what system are you running? Have you got a config which optimises for TFC? I have had a lot of problems with jerkyness but I lowered my rate to 3000 which helped. Normally on my PII 233 with a Canopus Pure3d (6Mb voodoo 1) 64Mb ram and a 56K diamond external modem I get a ping of about 190 at optimum, I normally get between 200 and 300.

I am on cable phones, don't know if that would make a difference. I'm hoping to get a cable modem soon, NTL are supposed to be trialing them in my area.

Player camp the gluon in the room off the main square in Boot Camp, I went from 50 - 20 to 60 - 40 flushing him out of there, constantly screaming abuse, in the end I killed him with his own tripbombs (and myself) then went straight back and killed his sorry arse with the pistol. That last kill won me the map. Took 45 mins, there weren't enough players on it. What servers do you play on John III? I don't have ICQ.

I won't be able to play the European players, but I'd be glad to challenge any American piece of flesh. That is becouse I am only able to play multi after midnight CET. Good news. I just won a Quake 3 contest here. It was a 5 player deathmatch, played on a LAN network. It took 3 hours to open the champagne..but it was worthed..now all the chicks here adore me Anyway, I won't be able to kick John's lazy butt untill I get a better line. Sorry.

I have had a lot of problems with jerkyness but I lowered my rate to 3000 which helped. Normally on my PII 233 with a Canopus Pure3d (6Mb voodoo 1) 64Mb ram and a 56K diamond external modem I get a ping of about 190 at optimum, I normally get between 200 and 300.
