Although the AC site is for four languages, the forums are not! All the people from non-English speaking countries must learn English befoe they can communicate here! I found this out as I was wondering if this was the case and went to the French version of the site, and from there to the Forums, and they were in English! Oh, well, what can you do...If I find my French-English dictionary I will write a message in French for all you French people in here!

Hell, why not insist on translating the forums into the minority UK languages? We could have chats in Welsh, Gaelic, Cornish and Manx. Then we could do all the imported minority languages- Urdu, Hindi, Pushtu etc. Then we could do all the minority US languages- there must be hundreds of the buggers. Then the French- Laungue d'Oc, Breton etc. We need the Universal Translator. Or the rebuilt Tower of Babel.

Um, the forums aren't in a specific language(couldn't be, until translation software gets a hell of a lot better); whatever you want to use is fine(just don't necessarily expect a response). Several threads have gone completely German and Russian, IIRC. We just seem to have a large Yank/Brit/Aussie/Kiwi population posting here, which seems to have biased it for English(of various flavours(ack, there, I did it again. Some latent genetic memory of proper spelling, I presume )). |

not to seem arrogant as most americans are, but it's nice having everyone else learning our language so we don't have to learn theirs. I took a few years in spanish so I might be able to learn that. But german looks really hard (I guess I can't relate to my heritage). |

I do German and Spanish at school, and I find German much easier, and more similar to English. John III |

really? I found spanish not too difficult since the city I grew up in is quickly becoming spanish speaking anyway. I was exposed to a lot of spanish in my schools. I look at german words and they make no sense to me. And russian is even worse. The spanish alphabet isn't too different from english which is nice. |

Krushala- You think your city is becoming Spanish fast, you should see here in Florida. Yeesh. I'm just glad I don't live in Miami. At my school Spanish is a required class. AND they announce the damn morning announcments in Spanish as well as English. I hear that in about 50 years, Hispanics will become the mojority in the US. Tu quereres burrito? Salimos los esculaia, es muy Espaniol. ________________________________ Dreadnought- Gonna kill himself if he hears Livin' the Vida Loca again.......... |

M_ashwell- What is with and your insane anti-American "rants"? If you're going to say America sucks (which it does), think of better reasons than, "we don't spell civilization right" (from the other thread). And what is this with we did'nt learn to speak "American"? Well....We came from England, therefore we speak "english". We did'nt have to learn it. Next time you rant, make sure it makes sense. |

M_ashwell, There is no language called "American". True, there are a few differences between what Americans speak and what English people speak, but those differences don't make a completely different language! And judging by what you have typed, it looks as though you haven't learned English either. |

The earlier you learn a language, the better you're going to speak it. So stop complaining about learning languages in school, for already in the teens the ability to learn languages deteriorates. |
