A group of friends and I are considering making a Game Magazine... however before we attempt this venture, we want to know what gamers want from a "Game Magazine"... Right now we know we want to have game reviews, editorials, interviews, fan mail(fiction?), strategies, previews, etc (regular run of the mill stuff)... but we'd also like to have segments that aren't normally seen in game mags, like Web Site Reviews (for game sites...), Scenario and Mod reviews (ie HOMM3, Alpha Centauri, etc...) I'm sure we will think up some more material, but we would like to hear from you the gamers... so if you've ever wanted to see something in a game mag that you've never seen, or have seen very little of, then let us know... All suggestions and ideas are welcome and acknowledgement will be given to you if we use your idea...

Yes, definitely put in a 'fan fiction' section where people send in their fictional stories based on games. |

You may need to investigate copyright things for fan fiction based on games. I think fan fiction inspired by games might be allowed. Definately should be in though. |

Are you going to do paper or will this be strictly an e-mail/Web magazine? |

How about a section which rates game companies each month on the quality of the games they are putting out. I'm talking about bugs, not poor design. A bug is something which doesn't work the way it was designed to. You might have to rate publishers and development houses separately. Can anybody think of an IMPARTIAL way to do this? |

Once a week do a story on a old, but very good game. |

Right now we are thinking of doing a Webzine, with a quarterly paper (glossy of course ;-) publication for our fans to snap off the counters... (this publication of course depends on how well known our site becomes etc...)Derek and Picker thanks for the suggestions I'll run them by my buds... Thanks Again and Tell your friends here to post there ideas... Lightbringer PS- What do you all think of doing fan rankings... work out some kind of fan points system... give things away to our most "avid" (and constructive) fans? Maybe dedicate an issue to them... something along those lines... |
