that's what cats do. What do you expect a dog?

I have four - they entertain each other very well. My house frequently sounds like the charging hoofbeats of a squadron of cavalry as they chase each other accross all surfaces for the pure fun of it. Your cat is probably bored or depressed.

They do sleep a lot though - it's hard work being so perfect.

Cats are great! They don't start moaning and whining the minute you leave them alone. You don't have to go out and walk them(If you live in a city, a place I don't think dogs should live in btw.), they are very independent and they don't interupt you in a sex act

I've had the same worthless cat for almost 10 years now. It hates my wife. The cat has a routine...when my wife comes home from work and sits down to eat dinner and catch up on the news, the cat sits down right in front of her and stares at her for about 10 minutes, then it goes into the bathroom, takes a big, nasty, stinky dump, and throws cat litter all over the place. I keep praying that it will die, but I'm sure it'll be around another 10 years.....damn cat.

The only useful purpose it has is that it gives my dog something to chew on.

Eh, I'd rather have a cat(actually, I do) than a dog. At least cats know to take a dump in the litter box and not to eat from it(as I've seen many a dog do).

Brats, cats. What's the difference? They suck up to you when they want something, and ignore you the rest of the time.

Cats are useless. Dogs on the otherhand rule! Has any of you cat owners trained your cat to fetch a ball? Can you hold your cat w/o getting your arms shredded w/ thier claws? Does your cat clean up every edible thing that falls off the table while you eat?
Valtyr posted 06-26-99 01:02 AM ET     Click Here to See the Profile for Valtyr  Click Here to Email Valtyr
Yeah, catching a ball seems very useful...

Anyway, my cat is still very young, so she likes to play. She's especially fond of hide and seek. Old cats on the other hand don't move around more than they have to.

JayPegg posted 06-26-99 11:31 AM ET     Click Here to See the Profile for JayPegg  Click Here to Email JayPegg
Well no Koshko, I can't train my cats to do that. But they do eat everything in site (including the couch).

Just compare how many lives dogs have saved compared to cats. Yes I know cats have been known to save a few lives. But you will never see a seeing eye cat.
Frodo83 posted 06-26-99 12:01 PM ET     Click Here to See the Profile for Frodo83  Click Here to Email Frodo83
If we judge species by how many lives they've saved compared to how many they've erased, I'd say humans would be at the bottom of the scale.

We're just comparing cats and dogs. We all know humans are pieces of sh*t.

Alright, SOME cats are nice and cute, but mine is mean and vicious. He runs into walls, he runs into windows, and every two minutes he wants to go outside or he wants to come inside.

Cats are useful. My uncle's cats are quite effective at keeping mice and such out of his dairy barn. I'd like to see any dog do that...

My cat's kill count this month: 4 rats, 9 mice, 3 sparrows. And those are just the ones I know of.

I like cats. Them's good eatin'.

I've known cats that were as affectionate as dogs and played a lot. I've also known cats that were total psychos. My housemates are allergic to cats or I would probably have gotten a couple instead of my dog (I hope you're not reading this, Bruno). with cats, at least a late day downtown doesn't mean a horrible mess all over the house, and a weekend trip is much simpler to arrange.

But dogs are much easier to include in social events. I can't imagine bringing cats to run around the soccer field before the game.

Your right "cats are useful" especially when they bring dead mice, birds, and other small animals to your doorstep!

I've had two cats who would fetch a ball without being trained; they just picked up the game on their own. They'd drop it at my feet and wait for me to throw it again, as many times as I was willing to play.

Yeah but the cat would probably say

"You want the ball - you go and get it.

anyway, if you want the ball so much why you throw it away in the first place?"

Actuall, that seems to be my parent's dog's view of fetch.

The cats are much more content to play soccer(or would it be hockey) with bottle caps on the hardwood floor.
