Who here believes it's appropiate for networks to censor religion jokes from tv shows like the simpsons. Fox is now censoring catholic jokes from the simpsons. Religion is one of the best institutions to make fun of. If I could boycott FOX I would. Unfortunately they have some good shows.

They're AFRAID of boycott from close-knit religious groups like the Southern Baptists and the Roman Catholic Church. I'm not going to stop watching the Simpsons just because Pat Robertson says they're gay. http://www.flash.net/~thedoor/thedoor/webintro/intro.htm

Ummm, I meant to say that I don't think FOX needs to worry about losing viewers or getting bad PR for making religious jokes. I'm not sure what that Pat Robertson business was about.the site listed is to a religous satire page distracted, sandworm |

Uh, I don't want to turn this into another constitutional debate, but I'm pretty sure that the freedom of speech allows religious jokes. |

"but I'm pretty sure that the freedom of speech allows religious jokes."Indeed it does. But it(as applied in the US Constitution) does not require companies(with a few exceptions) to distribute free speach they find objectionable; it(again, as practiced in the US) only prohibits to government from censoring free speech. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." In fact, if you interpret things 'rightly', you could even argue that Fox censoring religious jokes is a form of free speech and therefore the government couldn't even force them to include them. Of course, the Simpons would be worse with the religious jokes taken out(like all the Davey and Goliath takes)... |

Maybe they're afraid of blasphemy. |

Pat Robertson? Did he say something like: "Scotland is a dark land filled with homsexuals"? Now as much as I hate the Auld enemy, that still makes him a git. John III |

M_Ashwell- Also, in the one where Homer visits the Duff brewery, he jumps out of the window to escape from that big spider. When he falls, Barney is parked there with a matress on the top of the car and he says "Hey it's Princess Di"! And drives the car away, Homer falls and the used to have Barney say, "Oh, it's just a pile or rags" but it was cut out. |

Censorship is crap. Why should these organisations tell people what they can think? It's a disgrace. Quite frankly, if these people don't like religious jokes, they shouldn't watch, or at least grin and bear it, the rest of us have to. It is all part of the freedom of speech, with all of the problems it brings. Stupid assholes. |

John III-Robertson said something along the lines of that, and that caused a deal he had with a British or Scot Bank for some business enterprise to go straight into the ****ter. -Timexwatch |

Censorships are hot in those countries: Nazi Germany, Sovietunion, and Communist China. |
