I like dogs, but I dont have one now. The last dog that I had was a German Shepherd. I used to live on a farm with lots of room. That was a good place for a dog to run. Now I live in town and think that keeping a dog in a small space would be cruel. My son is bugging me to get a dog though, but I dont know. He is working and going to school so he doesnt have a lot of time to take care of a dog.

OhWell: I agree. The city is no place for a dog (same situation as you).

I have one.....1/2 Doberman 1/2 Shar pei. Ugly as hell but she's a good dog. I got her from the dog pound in Alaska. Her owners got divorced and neither wanted her. She turns 10 this month.

I also had a mini-pincher that I ended up with in Alaska. We called him Grandpa. He was about 14 or 15 years old and all of about 5 pounds (2.3 kgs) when I got him. The owners were moving so they put him up for adoption. He was very tempermental and didn't like too many people, but he liked me for some reason. Probably because I cleaned up after him and fed him. I took him home for the night to see if he got along with the rest of my family. He instantly became my guardian. He wouldn't leave my side, nor would he let anyone in my family near me. He would growl and bare his teeth. Needless to say my wife wasn't impressed.
Anyway the next day, a young couple came in and adopted him. He didn't seem to like them but they assured me that he would get over it so I reluctantly let them take him home.
The next morning I went outside to go to work and low and behold there's the dog waiting at my door for me. I took him to the clinic and called the couple that had adopted him the day before. The lady claimed that the dog had terrorized her and her husband the whole day. When she let him out to use the bathroom, he escaped and ran for the trees. I told her that he was on my doorstep that morning and she told me she had no desire to take him back.
I kept him at the clinic for a few more days but no one was interested in adopting an old, grouchy dog. But since he was such a great friend to me I couldn't put him to sleep so I took him home. He got to the point where he tolerated the rest of my family as long as they didn't try to touch him. He died of cancer almost a year to the day I first met him.

I have a cat. She's caught 3 rats, 5 mice and 3 sparrows this month. She's a menace to society.

Foxterrier, that is. The most stubborn and loveable creature I know.

I have two white long haired chihuahuas. (If there's anyone who doesn't know, that's pronounced chiwawa.) The male just acts like a normal dog. The female is strange. She will 'dig' at whatever surface she's about to lie down on. She frequently hides bones in strange places like shoes, and likes to sleep in a pillow at the foot of my bed. Not on, but in. She crawls in between the pillow case and the pillow. She's curled up sleeping there now, in fact.

I have a cross between a poodle and a terrier of some sort (Cairn, I think). He likes to "dig" as Mr. McCauley described, frequently DEMANDS that you scratch his neck (he'll put his nose under your hand and flip it back so it rests on his neck), and likes to get into the garbage and eat used kleenexes. What a great dog.

I hate dogs, not that there's anything wrong if you do like 'em.
