It could be cool if they were totall� different, with non-dna reproduction, non-carbon-oxygen for respiration and so on.
Many strains of life have gone extinct in the history of evolution on Earth, so who know what would have happened if there had been some differences at a critical point.

No, you�re all wrong... The Aliens look like Big Mac�s and their mother ship looks like a McDonalds.! They came here to take over the world! When you eat one it takes over your mind from the inside! Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, the constant simulation from TV eventually kills the alien and you have to eat another Big Mac. But the aliens have learned to use McDonalds commercials on TV to force us to come back! I can tell you this because I am hiding from them. I don�t watch TV any more. You must break their control, we must unite against..... Wait....
