Snap.Copious amounts of alcohol and nearly a bottle of aspirin (why don't they do strawberry flavour, I ask). Result. Considerable vomiting and a headache that lasted 3 days. Advice. Don't do it that way - more people wake up in a mess than those who choke on their own vomit. Resource Consumer - advocating electric fires in bathrooms - |

Life's stress became to great, so I fired up a "game" of CTP. I was hoping I would die of boredom.

I had someone that worked for me in the Army that tried to slit his wrists (funny huh?). All it got him was 8 weeks of intensive therapy and a discharge from the service.I had a friend that tried to kill herself in my house by overdosing on pills. I don't remember what kind, not sleeping pills or pain pills. She had some issues and was looking for attention. She locked herself in the bathroom, took the pills, and then unlocked the door. The ambulance came, took her to the hospital, and pumped her stomach. She said a stomach pump was the worst thing she'd ever gone through and that she'd never do that again. She ended up going to a therapist too. Me personally, since death fascinates me, I'd have to say that I thought about what it would be like to commit suicide. But that's as far as it got. If you commit suicide, you lose. Don't be a loser. |

I don't see the point in plain old suicide. If you really want to kill yourself wouldn't it be better to strap a bomb on yourself and run into the marketplace? |

Can't say I've seriously condidered it. Too much to live for. Anyway the taking out innocent people has been done to death. I suggest jumping off a tall building. Just avoid innocent people. It gives you a few seconds to consider your action. |

The first time I jumped off the wharf, the second I actually stood on a chair with a rope around my neck before I reconsidered (don't know if that counts as an attempted suicide) and the third time was an overdose. That was over three years ago, though. I'm doing much better now. |

I read that whenever people attempt to kill themselves, they always regret it during the actual act. This must be especially truthfull jumping off a tall building. Just falling for a few moments, thinking about how you will hit the ground. What if you change your mind when falling? |

If I survive the initial blast of a nuclear war, I will first arrange a clean way to dispose my body and then blast my brain away with a bullet. No reason to waste away in a radioactive world and see the wretched remains of the humanity. |

Eccles, I guess this explains your obsession with death from your prev post.I never seriously thought about commiting suicide, but I used to know someone who commited suicide. At one time She lived down the street from me. At that time, we were both Seniors in HS. I agree with jig. If you really want to kill yourselves, you might as well take a bunch of innocent bystanders with you. This way your death can be Front Page News. |

I have, but it was a really stupid try. I'm saving up on Prozac b/c I don't feel like taking the drug and in case I feel like killing myself at a later date. |

I'm saddened to see that so many of you think like this. I understand why. Everything seems to be going wrong in my life compared to 5 years ago when everything seemed to be going great. My academic life went down the bog, and as for love life, well, still on the starting blocks. Well, at least I've still got my health, but not if I keep on putting on weight like this.I reckon that the best way to suicide must be to shoot you in the head. See, if your brains have gone, so have you. It very rarely fails (especially if you have something you know will blow your brains out), whereas others like poisoning can have agonising after-effects if you fail. Or theres jumping of cliffs.... ....I have thought about it, but in the end, I've been so depressed, I wouldn't even spare myself the luxury of suicide. |

The goal of life is to be happy. Killing yourself does not achieve that goal -- rather, you are abdicating your responsiblity to yourself and to the people around you.You cannot be happy through anger, hate or violence, so taking others with you does nothing but deprive others of the same thing you are looking for, happiness. It is a bitter, petty thing to do, akin to popping a child's balloon because you don't have one. To be happy, you need patience and tolerance, and you need to understand yourself. I recommend a book titled "The Art of Happiness," by the Dalai Lama. It made me think about things in a way that I could accept. The best thing about it is that you can understand it whether you are an athiest or fervently religious. My personal philosophy is this. I control my own life. I choose to do or not do things. Regardless of the reasons or outside influences, it is still my choice. I take responsibility for those choices. I try to live by this idea, and maintain the integrity of my beliefs. There are rational reasons for things, including why people choose to help each other. Hurt and pain come from misunderstandings, either of oneself or someone else. I have many goals in my life, but the ultimate one is to be happy. There is room for a lot of variation there, and I don't always live up to my own standards. If you try to be happy, and understand that happiness comes from within yourself, then suicide should never be an option. |

Actually, in my case, I myself don't understand exactly why I attempted it.I won't be trying it again, since even though Claritin's potent, it doesn't work, and gives you a bad feeling in your tummy for the rest of the week. That's not something desirable, so it won't be attempted again. |

One of the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt not murder". By commiting suicide, you murdered yourself. (If you're a Christian) this is not a good way for your life to end, blatently breaking a Commandment like that. Just felt like throwing that in. |

The fact is I believe it is genuinely difficult for a person to truly know himself and by comfortable with that, as well as his interaction with his environment. And this is the difficulty. Although I would like to aspire to something better, my time at university has been a painful ordeal. And there is a lot to be said for neurochemical balance. In certain people, this can cause immense distress and agony. Willpower is goodm but when you have the power of your own biochemistry against you, you cannot always win. Depression is not just a figment of peoples imagination, it is an acknowledged clinical condition with sound scientific reasoning. Sometimes, the answer of antidepressants cannot always be avoided. |

Hmm. People have found faith in religion, as a means to prevent suicide. However, religious opposition to suicide may be just a product of more primitive times, where the church/state wanted to control the individual. I was completely nihilist when I tried to kill myself. Now all I believe in is love, my Lover came back! (ahhhhhhh) |

Just, FYI, the Catholic Church has changed its stance on suicide. Before, it believed anyone who commits suicide goes straight to hell. Now, it believes that if someone is so mentally ill that they do not know what they are doing they can be saved(The church has recently stated that they beleive extreme insanity can excuse a sin. Of course, It is not a very safe bet to kill yourself and find out if you go to hell... |
